Beautiful space, incredible location
The location of this property could hardly be better. Literally a two-minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. Lovely accommodation, very roomy and comfortable. Impeccably maintained. Extremely helpful and kind hosts. We would recommend this property very highly to anyone and would definitely stay there again, should we ever be fortunate enough to return to Florence.
The house in Florence was an ideal first stop location in Italy. I suffer greatly from jet lag and the ability to get up and go downstairs in the middle of the night in a comfortable home setting is ideal. The house is comfortable, near all sites and spacious for Italy. Its only 3 blocks from the ponte vecchio so not as noisy as central Florence but buses and garbage trucks do start early in all cities. The coffee bar recommended by the owner was really good for both breakfast and apperitivo. Its a close walk over to the Pitti Palace and Bobili Gardens. Fall is colder than I would have expected (I'm from the desert) so an extra couple of blankets would have been ideal for me since there is no heat available until Nov 1st [per Italian law - IP]. Owner met us and showed us all around & how things worked. The small wall safe was really a nice extra. We would definitely stay here again.
"Hidden Gem" in Florence
Casetta Bonsi was truly a "hidden gem" of a house in the middle of a tiny cobblestone street among Florence Apartments. The house was 5 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio, Ufizzi, and easy access to Florence's main tourist attractions. Actually we walked almost everywhere, even to Santa Maria Novella church near the train station. The owner, Maurizio was a sweet man. He helped us with our taxi arrangements, recommended restaurants and went out of his way to find some information for us. Casetta Bonsi was roomy and comfortable and felt like home, a nice place to come home to every night. We loved Florence, the end to a perfect 3 week vacation in Italy. Recommended restaurants in the area: Casalinga, and the ones on the sheet Maurizio gives you. If you plan to visit at least 8 or so museums and churches, buy the Firenze pass, (at Door #2 of the Uffizi). You will skip the lines and it is well worth it!! Lisa at Italy Perfect was excellent, booking was easy and she provided a lot of valuable information for the Florence area. We would highly recommend Casetta Bonsi and we hope to return soon!!!
Thank you for a tremendous stay
We are now back from our trip to Italy and wanted to thank you for making our stay so memorable! We had a fantastic time in Florence. We will definitely recommend ItalyPerfect to all of our friends and hope to return to take advantage of your great hospitality in the future! Please convey our sincere thanks to Maurizio. He made us feel so welcome and his recommendations for restaurants and other activities were superb. It was delightful to meet him. He is a true asset to your firm.
Again many thanks for making our Florentine experience great.
Authentic, charming, location
Cassetta Bonsi was exactly as advertised. It was a lovely, charming home in a central location. The owner, Maurizio, was very accomodating and welcoming. He and his wife thought of everything a visitor to Florence would need. One thing I really appreciated were the household items one usually needs to purchase for a vacation rental - toilet paper, soap, kitchen products were already there. I would definitely recommend (and use for future visits) Cassetta Bonsi and Italy Perfect.
We stayed at Cassetta Bonsi in early September. The location is ideal for seeing all of the Florence sights. The house is extremely well maintained and the owner is very helpful. His English is excellent and he will arrange for a cab to pick you up when you depart. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a nice little balcony to have an an espresso and croissant in the morning or a glass of wine and some cheese in the evening. We didn't cook in, but you could in this house. The only negative is that to get to the house there is a rather steep hill of about 50 yards to climb. The cabs will drop you off and pick up at the door, but otherwise you will have to climb the hill. It's good for working off all of the great meals that you will be consuming. There are a number of good restaurants in the Oltrano District and in the evenings, it's a little quieter than the north side of the Arno. The owner has a list of restaurants. Also there is a grocery store just down the street, along with several bakeries, and a good gelato shop. Everything that you will need is just a short walk away. We would strongly recommend Cassetta Bonsi. It's a winner. We would also recommend that you buy the Firenze Museum Card. It's 72 Euros and good for three days and will work in most of the museums. It doesn't save you much money, but it's allows you to bypass all of the lines, except for the Duomo. A great way to see this part of Italy is to spend 3 or 4 days in Florence and then rent a villa in the South Central part of Tuscany. We day tripped for 5 days and saw all the significant Tuscan towns. Take your GPS loaded with a European map and driving is not a problem. We tried to stay on the back roads whenever possible. We stayed about 30 miles south of Florence at Casa Rossa, which is another Italy Perfect property. I have now rented 3 properties from this company. 2 from Italy Perfect and 1 from Paris Perfect. I strongly recommend using this company. They are most helpful and so far, I've been very happy with their properties.
The home was perfect for my wife and I
We enjoyed our stay a great deal. The home was perfect for my wife and I. Very clean and comfortable. The host was very accommodating and a valuable source of practical information . The location was ideal for exploring Florence and for access to the train station. We preferred eating our evening meal in and the small grocery store nearby had a wonderful deli and wine selection. We are runners and ran along the river one morning but subsequently started running up the hill and discovered many wonderful neighborhoods, historic sites and restaurants. Great home.
Casetta Bonsi is perfectly located for our needs. It is on a quiet street only a four minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio, gateway to the old town and the main attractions of Florence. Because it is outside of the tourist center it is peaceful but the Uffizi Gallery is only a 10 minute stroll away across the bridge. The neighborhood felt very safe.
Florence experienced record heat during our stay. We used the bedroom air conditioner at night and were very comfortable. The rest of the house was pleasant in mornings and evenings without AC. It is spacious and well appointed for travelers. The kitchen, living room, bathroom were very nice. There is a wall safe and clothes washer that were very handy.
Our host/owner/greeter was warm and friendly, gave us lots of useful information about the surroundings, went to great lengths to work with our schedule, and was otherwise unobtrusive. He went out of his way to help me deal with Italian bureaucracy.
We ate at local restaurants suggested by our host. They were all good, but we fell in love with one he listed, La Casalinga. Just up the street from the Casetta is the beautiful Bardini Gardens, well worth the walk. The Boboli Gardens, adjacent to the Pitti Palace, are close by. The Bardini are much better.
Must-see tourist attractions are the Ufizzi Gallery and Michelangelo's David. The Galileo Science Museum is worth a visit. Jewelry shopping on the Ponte Vecchio is a must, and shops selling Italian shoes and clothing are in the neighborhood.
great place in Florence
We stayed 4 nights at Casetta Bonsi. Our greeter was very thorough and patient in showing us everything about the place. The wine & treats at check-in were nice touches. The unit was quite spacious for the two of us. Although there were a few scooters, the street was relatively quiet. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance.
Casetta Bonsi exceeded our expectations. The Casetta is in a perfect location where you can easily walk to restaurants, museums, and shops on both sides of the river. When we arrived one of the owners met us, gave us a tour, and a list of outstanding restaurants in the area. A welcome basket along with a bottle of wine was there to greet us. He was very gracious and available should we need anything. The Casetta was immaculate, very spacious, and homey. We cooked several meals and found the kitchen well supplied with all conveniences. Morning coffee was spent on the terrace which provides you with a glimpse of Florence. We highly recommend Italy Perfect for their excellent choice of accommodations and for their superb service.
