The apartment is on the 4th floor and, most uniquely, has an elevator all the way. Not only is the area quiet (except for the songs of the gondoliers and the bells of the churches), the apartment is in prestigious Palazzo Widmann, close to San Marco but not in the crowds. From the windows in every room and the terraces savor the Venice as it has been for centuries. For your comfort: air conditioning, WiFi, washer and dryer.
The Dorato apartment is a calm retreat above the bustling calles and canals of Venice. Modern and efficient designer furniture ensures comfort as well as all the things a guest needs for a pleasant stay. Enter the palazzo's ancient hall to take a secure elevator to the top floor to find this spacious apartment with wonderful view in all directions.
Along the Canal Widmann, stay in Palazzo Widmann, dating back to 1630 designed by Longhena, the pre-eminent architect of the Baroque. This neighborhood is very livable for visitors. It is quite close to the San Marco neighborhood but just far enough to avoid the throngs of tour groups and tacky souvenir shops. The nearby Campo Crovato bustles with local life. Children play, older folk sit on the benches and watch the world go by, men and women stop by the cafe for a quick espresso, and locals and visitors enjoy the two restaurants. A number of nice restaurants can be found in the neighborhood. Transportation here is remarkably good. It is less than a 5 minute walk to Fondamente Nove where 4 vaporetti (water busses) stop as well as the direct shuttle to the airport. It is the second stop from the airport! Walking in the other direction, in 7 minutes you are at the Rialto area on the Grand Canal where more vaporetto lines run.
The building is a palazzo, the home of a noble family. The entry of the building is through a formal hallway with high ceilings and large high-backed, painted benches. The hall leads right to the water gate, the door onto the canal.
From the unique, curved front door, enter into the spacious living room that opens onto a large, covered terrace, the loggia, one of only 4 in all of Venice. The door to the loggia has three sliding panels that totally opens it up, creating a large indoor-outdoor space. The terrace is three steps up from the living room and has a raised wooden deck. The deck raises you so as to easily see over the wall with its three stone columns and a couple of mechanical owls that warn off the pigeons.
The furnishings are the best of top-quality modern design. The living room has a long sofa by the designers Molteni & C, large hassock and two side chairs. In contrast, the hutch is from the 1700s. At night the room is well lit, with feature lights that are hidden among the ancient beams from the 1600s. You can see the delivery code of the original beams carved into the wood.
The dining room is very attractive, it features fine built-ins from the 1960s. Dine at the Norman Foster glass table with Eames chairs, that can easily fit up to 8 people. During dinner, watch as the pink sun sets over Venice rooftops through the windows across the exterior wall. A door leads directly to the kitchen that is also accessed off the main entry.
What a great kitchen! New, designer cabinetry by Dada, a huge refrigerator with and ice dispenser. For cooking, there is an induction stovetop, oven and microwave. A beautiful old hutch bridges the modern to the ancient location. A utility room off the kitchen has a washer, dryer, sink and drying racks.
Good WiFi through ADSL.
The master bedroom is gracious in size, accessed off the living room. In addition to the king-sized bed (with Frette sheets), there is an ergonomic chair with foot stool, built in closet and a desk an chair. The large en-suite bath is finished with attractive grey stone that is actually a modern ceramic. There is a shower over the spacious bath tub.
The two additional bedrooms are located off a small hallway separated from the living room with double glass doors.
The second bedroom is along the hall at the top of 6 steps. It is bright with the light of two windows that overlook SS Giovanni e Paolo church and hospital with their Venetian domes. There is a wall of closets. King-sized bed. Flos bedside lamps.
At the bottom of the steps is the third and smallest bedroom that is still adequate for guests. Queen-sized bed. One window also faces SS Giovanni e Paolo. There are two closets in the hallway for this bedroom.
All of the bedroom windows have external wooden shutters, when closed the bedrooms are dark.
The second and third bathrooms are grouped together. Both have nice walk-in showers.
Venice is such a special place. Is it like a city from a fictitious world or from another time? Beyond the famous sites, the art, the exhibits and concerts, there are intangibles that add the other-time, other-place dimensions to your experience. One is the sound of the village; you can hear the people, not the machines. Children are playing in the campo a block away and their joyous sounds carry. A violinist down the canal's practice notes grace your day. Just below, the gondolier greets his colleagues and recounts Venetian stories to his passengers. At noon the church bells ring across the city, each bell has its own name and is different in sound, its turn established for centuries, starting with La Marangona of San Marco. Even the putter of the boat delivering linens to the hotels is a gentle and appropriate sound. Another dimension is time. All transportation is by foot or by boat and both just take a while. It's an invitation to a slower pace because you can't really rush. Yet another dimension is age; every building and bridge, calle and monument is hundreds of years old. There are no high rises, no modern structures, all have been built with art and permanence. Enjoy.

Our Guest Reviews
The Dorata apartment is a perfect apartment in a wonderful neighborhood - everything is nearby except tourists. Our greeter was fantastic - so helpful and knowledgeable.
[Thank you so much Sonia! The Italy Perfect Team]
Great location, comfortable master bed, great appliances and well appointed kitchen. We highly recommend.
Beautiful apartment, great location
We spent 5 wonderful days in Venice. The apartment is beautiful, offering stunning views over the entire city from the roof terrace and the balcony terrace. It is situated in a quiet area, yet very central. We could walk to San Marco square, the Rialto bridge, the Accademia, Fundamente Nove, from which the vaporetto departs to Murano. There are shops close by to buy bread, fruits, cheese and sausage, as well as a small supermarket. There are good restaurants in the neighborhood. We highly recommend this address to experience the Venitian way of life.

We absolutely loved the location of Dorato. It was away from the crowds but yet still close enough to walk to San Marco and Rialto. Everything is in walking distance. The views from every room, balcony and rooftop are unbelievable! The nearby restaurants and wine shop are fabulous. Our greeter Evelyn was so helpful and patient with us. The AC was not working in full strength so the nights were warm. We definitely would recommend the Dorato to family and friends.
[Thank you so much Maria, we are happy you enjoyed your stay! We would like to apologize for your experience with the AC, we hope you contacted Evelyn about it during your stay to see if someone could come and check it. The Italy Perfect Team]
Very comfortable-we had everything we needed.
Our family of five was very comfortable in Dorato. The location was perfect for us, a few minutes walk from the crowds of Rialto and San Marco and very close to public transportation. We took a day trip to Lido and enjoyed the beach which was a special treat. Evelyn was extremely responsive and helpful with every thing we could need help with. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

“Thank you for staying with us Walter, we welcome you back anytime! Your team at Italy Perfect"
The place is perfectly positioned for walking around Venice. It is away from the beaten path but close to Rialto and St. Marc's. we were here for 8 days and loved every minute of it!
On Top Of It All in Venice
On our arrival on a beautifully clear day we were able see the snow-covered Dolomiti from the apartment's terraces high above Venice's tiled roofs, church domes, and campaniles.
This arrival was the beginning of a relaxing, four-day stay at the spacious apartment. The kitchen is well-equipped with modern appliances. The laundry works well. And the bathrooms fixtures all were spotless.
After mingling with the crowds down in San Marco, around the Accademia, and around the Frari each day, it was a relief to head back to Cannaregio where one could enjoyably walk to the produce shop, to the wine shop, and to the paneficcio.
Great flat in Venice
It would be hard to imagine a more ideal accommodation for spending several days in Venice. It is spacious, clean, bright, well furnished, and well organized. I regretted that we did not get around to shopping in the markets and using the kitchen, which is uncommonly well equipped for a rental. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Evelyn's welcome was warm, punctual, and extremely helpful. I have never received printed material of such good quality in advance of a rental. Italy perfect is a first class operation.
[Thank you so much, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay!]
