Clean, attractive, well furnished, spacious
Experience a real Roman neighborhood with space and light and comfort.
The apartment has everything you may need and the level of comfort and detail is extremely impressive.
The Prati neighborhood is known for its wide boulevards, fine architecture and great shopping. The streets are wide enough for trees, vehicles, trolleys and pedestrians and the scale of the architecture reminds of us Paris but with an Italian flair, less groomed, more street markets.
The apartment is in a great neighborhood with an excellent restaurant down the block and a large "american style" grocery store across the street.
This is the best neighborhood in Rome for real shopping. Along Via Cola di Rienzo there are fashion stores for shoes, leather and clothing that offer the latest fashions without designer prices. Good grocery shopping and gourmet food, too. And, lots of street vendors that are a dream for our teenage fashion mavens, Italian styles, budget prices.
This is also close to the Vatican Museums, walking distance to Castel Sant`Angelo and St. Peter`s. Piazza del Popolo is a 15 minute walk. We use the subway from the Ottaviano stop to go everywhere else, 2 stops, 4 minutes to the Spanish Steps. The area is also really well served by busses and a tram.
This fine building from 1830 is handsome inside and out. It is on a corner of a half-moon piazza with a park at the center. The trees are high and provide a nice view from the apartment windows. With all the planning that went into the laying out of Prati in the early 1800s, it is odd and lucky for us that this is one of the few green piazzas.
The apartment was renovated completely in 2009 and laid out with modern living in mind. The entry has a beautiful antique red table that shows off the antique tortoise-shell mirror above it. Straight ahead is the living room and to the right a long hallway reaches the far end of the apartment.
The living room overlooks the piazza with a high window. Clean, white moden furniture highlights fine Italian design. The designer lounge chairs, both signed, are wonderfully comfortable. Known for their modern design in the 1950s, you have to remember that the function preceded design. A long hutch is of equally modern, clean and pleasing. Its twin is in the dining room. The large, flat-screen television has satellite reception for some English language programs.
They have an extensive music collection and a small number of DVDs that have the proper regional coding. The wifi connection is very fast and stable and they even have a PC and printer/copier should you need it.
Frosted glass sliders separate the living and dining rooms. The modern, minimal design theme continues here with a glass-topped table that has expansion at both ends. Red leather chairs for six diners. Table will seat eight, bringing chairs from the kitchen.
A hallway connects the living and dining room with the kitchen that has a large (rather than under-counter) refrigerator, oven, stovetop, dishwasher as well as pots, pans and dishes.
The three bedrooms are the master bedroom that has an ensuite bathroom with enclosed shower. The tilework in all the bathrooms is modern and very pleasing. The master bedroom with red accents has a wall of closets and a small private balcony.
The "blue" and "green" bedroom each have two twin beds, plenty of closet space. Both have a view of the green piazza below. The blue bedroom beds can be made up together as a king or two singles.
There are two more bathrooms, one with jacuzzi tub with shower over and the other with enclosed shower.
The three bathrooms were all very nice with great showers, very clean and plenty of towels. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very functional.

• Very comfortable, bright, roomy apartment ideal for large families or 3 couples. Fully renovated kitchen and all 3 bathrooms are high quality.
• Typical Roman neighborhood, not a touristy area so experience is more authentic. Popular area for Roman families.
• Walkable to the Vatican, St. Peter`s area but for other sites public transportation is an easy option. There are handy busses and trolleys close to the apartment, we tested them all and, in the end, found the few minutes longer walk to the subway station Ottaviano (total 10 minutes from the apartment) was worth it because the subway ride is so easy and fast. So, 10 minutes to the subway + 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps on the train, makes this location excellent for visitors.
• Rigoletto is €1000 less per week than comparable apartments on the other side of the river. The subway is really easy and clean, but €1000 pays for a lot of taxis rides if you don`t want to take public transportation.
• Many good neighborhood amenities, fruit stands, grocers, local restaurants.
The Prati neighborhood may appear to be away from the center of Rome when you look on a map, but those who know and live in the city understand how central and convenient it is. It has great shopping and excellent access to tourist sights. To put that into perspective, consider the comparative distance/times for both walking and public transportation between popular sites in other major cities:
|City||Location||Location||Distance||Walk Time||Public Transport|
|Rome||Rigoletto Apartment||Piazza Navona||2.7 km, 1.7 mi||35 min||20 min|
|Paris||Notre Dame||Eiffel Tower||4.6 km, 29 mi||58 min||29 min|
|London||Tower of London||British Museum||4.2 km, 2.6 mi||54 min||34 min|
|New York||Metropolitan Museum of Art||Empire State Building||3.9 km, 2.4 mi||48 min||24 min|
When you compare prices and think about the time you have to enjoy Rome, you can continue to save money by walking or taking the excellent public transportation options, or spend a few of the Euros you have saved on taking taxis that will get you wherever you want to go in minutes.
Our Guest Reviews
We loved the neighborhood.
We loved the neighborhood. The apartment was well appointed and spacious. We were reasonably close to all the major attractions. We would definitely recommend the place to any and all parties.
[Thank you, we are pleased you & your wife enjoyed your year-long stay at the Rigoletto apartment.]
Very nice, comfortable apartment in a quite location that is convenient
We really liked our stay and can't say enough about the support that we got. The apartment is very nice with three large modern bathrooms and three large bedrooms, plus lots of family space. The location is a short walk to the Vatican and metro stations making it very convenient yet in a nice quite plaza. Highly recommend this location.
Best of Rome
We were three senior couples in Rome for ten days. The location is close to bus lines (very confusing and drivers are no help. Check the internet), Metro, and Vatican. It is in a lovely residential neighborhood with grocery, bakery, and restaurants all close at hand. The building is over eighty years old, elegant with an old-fashioned lift, and extremely sturdy and well built, which we appreciated during the series of earthquakes north of us that shook things in Rome.
Nancy met us promptly and showed us how everything worked and explained the buses and Metro. We needed an extra set of keys, which are complex and bonded, but we received them in two days.
The apartment is large, well lit and beautifully remodeled in such a way to be modern European, but with a feeling of early 20th century luxury. The rooms and baths are very large. The kitchen has everything you would need. The beds are so comfortable with wonderful linens. Towels are abundant. Wifi was strong and reliable. We were provided with an abundance of information of things to do and places to go.
We all loved this apartment.
My cousins and their wives stayed at the apartment for 10 days. It was perfect for us. GREAT location and easy to get to Metro and essentially anywhere we wanted to go. Great shopping in the area as well as good restaurants. The apartment is on the 6th floor. Great exercise taking the stairs a couple times a day. Only bummer was the washing machine. It takes FOREVER to run a load. Should I return to Roma - I'm definitely booking the apartment again.

Stay at Rigoletto
We were very pleased with the apartment rental. We stayed four weeks and had family and friends come and go during that time.
The apartment location was perfect. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, but only a 15 minute walk to the Metro station and 20 minutes to the Vatican. A supermarket, bankomat, pharmacy and two very good restaurants were within three blocks of the building. On the walk to the Mero there is an excellent bakery and pastry shop we all frequented almost daily.
The apartment had everything we needed and the owner and his agent quickly responded to any questions or problems we encountered either by phone or on site visit.
We highly recommend this apartment. Wonderful accommodations and value.

Both the apartment and this area of Rome perfectly met the needs and exceeded the expectations of the three couples who stayed there. The apartment was bright and cheery. It was tastefully furnished and was large enough for all eight of us to feel comfortable together. All that we wanted to do or see was easily reached with an added benefit feeling at home in this pretty and quiet residential apartment.
We discovered several restaurants within blocks that were wonderful. A cozy cafe and wine bar was just around the corner and a restaurant with the best sea food we tasted in Rome was a block away!
Overall a wonderful stay.
Wonderful rental near the Vatican
My wife and I frequently travel to Europe and usually rent apartments for our stays since we prefer the extra room and independence of a rental over a hotel. This apartment was one of the best we experienced. The whole rental operation - from answering our initial inquiries, to helping us arrange a driver in Rome, to meeting us a the front of the apartment as we moved in, to providing us with wallet cards with information to help us find the place if we get lost or to show to a taxi driver - was perfect. Most of all, the apartment was amazing: it was clean, had a well-stocked kitchen, was bright, it was well-decorated and very quiet in a residential area, and was absolutely huge. It was about a 20 minute walk to St. Peter's and about a 15 minute walk to the Metro station, both through nice neighborhoods. We would definitely come here again when we return to Rome.
GREAT visit to Rome
Our stay at Rigoletto was wonderful and it was so easy working with Italy Perfect. They took care of everything with their well-organized information packets. They also took care of such as coordination with the owner, transportation from the airport, and information about everything you can think of, from where to eat, to shop for food, how to get around the city, etc. etc... Rigoletto was perfect for us. We traveled with five adults. There were three separate bedrooms and private baths for each. A very large living room, large dining room and the kitchen was well equipped. And the location was fantastic. Everything you need is within a couple of blocks, including great restaurants, bars, pizza, bakery. The vatican was a 20-minute walk and the subway train stop was just a 15-minute walk. When we arrived, the owner was there to meet us. After settling in, we realized that there was a heater problem. We called the owner and he was there in 20 minutes and immediately corrected the issue. The owner, Giuseppi, was very accommodating and is a very nice man. I highly recommend Rigoletto, Giuseppi and Italy Perfect..

So convenient for our entire family to meet after a day of sightseeing
My Family and I had the most wonderful time in Rome. Your place was so convenient for our entire family to meet after a day of sightseeing. I was able to cook wonderful Italiano meals for all of us. We absolutely loved the neighborhood restaurants (Sicillianbocca)!!!
I had and will in the future refer you to anyone staying in Rome.
[Delighted you & your family enjoyed your month-long stay at the Rigoletto apartment! The Italy Perfect Team]
After flying all night, Giuseppe's warm welcome and orientation to the neighborhood was greatly appreciated. My daughter, her 2 adult children and I were delighted with the stylish contemporary decor and spaciousness of the Rigoletto. A super market and several good restaurants were nearby. Public transportation was convenient and the residential neighborhood was an oasis from our rigorous days of sight seeing. It was a 5 star stay and I heartily recommend the Rigoletto to travelers to Rome.
