A unique experience, an art lovers dream, nothing can prepare you for the exquisite murals that greet you! This beautifully curated, harmonious space also boasts a lovely internal facing terrace.
The Tesoro apartment is a treasure of art and harmony in the historic center of Florence.
The Santa Croce neighborhood is one of the most fascinating and historic in the center of Florence. Piazza Santa Croce is traffic free and hosts events of every kind, including the famous Calcio in Costume (soccer as it was played in ancient times - in medieval costumes). Surrounded by history, the neighborhood has many restaurants and markets.
Located between Piazza Santa Croce and the river, this Renaissance palazzo is built in the style typical of the period. Grey pietra serena (serene stone) outlines the geometry of the facade. The building is beautifully maintained; it is clean and quiet.
Glowing with radiantly colored 15th century frescoes, the entry transports you into another time. You can enjoy these beautifully preserved murals up close from an antique settee.
The spacious living room has a 20th century flair with a sofa, side chairs, chaise longue, a handsome antique sideboard, fireplace and many pieces of art. The exceptional aesthetics of the apartment evidence harmony and a spirit of beauty that can be appreciated at every turn. The fireplace is non-working.
A dining table seats four. You can also choose to dine on the terrace, a particular joy during warm weather. The terrace has a wrought iron table and chairs for four. It is right off the large kitchen where there is another table for casual meals. The kitchen is thoroughly modern and offers artistic elements to enjoy.
The terrace and living room overlook the inside of the block with its secluded gardens.
The study is another treasure with every wall and the ceiling covered with 18th century frescoes. Their beautiful clouds and cupids contrast with the vivid colors and themes of the entry frescoes. A leather sofa converts to a wide single bed. A full bath with shower adjoins the study. A flat-screen television receives local channels, a DVD player, and a stereo.
Tranquility suffuses the master bedroom with its warm yellow-gold walls and polished wood throughout. The decorating language is Japanese with a Italian King sized bed is on a wooden platform, so is a little lower that the usual. It has a heavy foam mattress. A glass walled room forms a temple to the bath. The toilet/WC is en-suite in a separate room with a door.
A sofa and large lounging pillows invite you to recharge in this magical room. The room faces the internal, quiet courtyard.

• We love the Santa Croce area; there is so much to see and do every day and the large Piazza Santa Croce hosts frequent special events.
• The terrace enhances your enjoyment of Florence.
• It is hard to express how truly special this apartment is. It is filled with spectacular and unique art. But beyond the wonderful things to look at, there is a harmonious spirit that brings it all together.
• The living room furniture is more for artistic enjoyment than for comfort.
• A neighbor smokes in the hallway and elevator. This is normal in Italy ;-(, but that also means that sometimes that smell drifts into the apartment.
Our Guest Reviews
The stay at Tesoro.
The location was absolutely great. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. There was the issue of mosquitoes.
[Thank you so much. We love that location, too. Yes, there can be mosquitoes in Florence. The owner said she showed you the mosquito appliances. The Italy Perfect Team]
All the glowing reviews are right on target. The apartment is elegantly furnished yet comfortable and blissfully quiet. I loved living among the frescoes and the soaring ceilings made me feel like the place was my private palazzo. The location can’t be beat — all the museums and sights are a 20 minute walk away, if that. We found the local Corad to stock pretty much everything we needed. The wonderful Osteria dei Benci, just two doors down the street was our favorite casual restaurant and we ended up eating there four times during our week there. Go for the daily specials! Elisabetta was available to greet us, show us around and demonstrate how machines worked. She had kindly set us up with breakfast fixings. We found ourselves locked out one afternoon and she graciously came to let us in within the hour. Staying in this apartment made our Florence trip experience exceptional.
[Thank you for your great review! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team]
Truly a Treasure!
This beautiful and special apartment is truly a treasure! With frescoes from the 13th and 16th centuries, along with the perfect location and accommodations, it cannot be beat for having the perfect stay in the beautiful city of Florence. ItalyPerfect is my preferred purveyor of wonderful apartments in Italy.
[Thank you Celia, we are pleased you enjoyed staying at the Tesoro! The Italy Perfect Team]
Matt and I want to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed Elisabetta's apartment and talking with her about her life. She is a fascinating and kind person. We are back home and miss the charm, food, wine, and scenery of Italy.
Grazie mille, Sharon
The apartment was very unique with beautiful murals throughout, a spacious living room and a great little balcony.
My only negative with the apartment was that it was quite 'full of stuff' and hence a bit dusty due to the volume of books etc.
We did also have an issue with the key to the street door - The key had been broken off by somebody in the door and when the lock was changed we were not given a key and got locked out of the apartment. Luckily someone else was coming home & we were able to obtain a new key.
The location was wonderful and the surrounding area felt safe and had lots of restaurants and bars to choose from.
The Santa Croce at the end of the street is worth more than a single visit - It was just amazing and the movie shown of the '66 floods and following restoration activities was very interesting.
We would certainly recommend Italy Perfect to family and friends.
[Thank you very much for your kind comments. We inspected the property right after your comments and did find the apartment full of things as in the photos but no dust, so if there was a housekeeping oversight, it was corrected. Apologies! Very sorry there was a problem with the front door key. Fortunately you were delivered the replacement as soon as it was available. The Italy Perfect team.]
Beautiful apartment. Don't even consider staying anywhere else
This apartment has a perfect location and allows you to feel as though you are living in an artist's flat for the duration of your stay. The furnishings and art are wonderfully curated. We enjoyed being able to cook in the kitchen and relax on the attached outdoor patio. This will be my go-to apartment for all future trips!
We spent our honeymoon here and the service received was beyond expectation. We will refer big time
From the beginning discussions with Pat, to meeting Elizabetta our greeter, we were treated first class and with the warmest of welcomes. The villa is even more charming in person with every amenity you could imagine. Grocery store, restaurants, wine bars, gelato, shopping, museums, and friendly people are steps from the front door. Don't forget to visit Flor on the street as it fills the air with homemade perfumes that will blow your mind. We have traveled to many places around the world, and this is up there as being one of the greatest experiences we've ever had. We highly recommend contacting Pat and her team to make your experience above the ordinary. Without question we are referring our family members and close friends, and we also plan to return one day in the near future.
We have had a wonderful time in your beautiful apartment. I will recommend it to all my friends. Thank you for making our stay so excellent. See you next time we are in Firenze.
Incredible Gem of an Apartment
First, we would certainly recommend Italy, Paris and London Perfect for any travelers. We have used all three and your services are the best. The specific apartment we rented in San Croce in Florence was spectacular. The location was perfect - San Croce is full of great restaurants, sights and shops to visit and a GREAT walking neighborhood as is the entire city. The apartment is large, in a 500+ year old building with beautiful frescos covering many of the walls that go back hundreds of years. Our greeter, the apartment's owner was also very gracious and hospitable and make arrangements for our late arrival. I would strongly recommend the apartment, the neighborhood and Florence.
[Thank you Jim and Peggy, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team]
Amazing Location, Wonderful Apartment, Top Notch Service!
We rented the Tesoro apartment for a week, and it was exceptional. About 90 minutes after I inquired about the apartment, I got a response from Pat at Italy Perfect, confirming availability. Within 24 hrs Pat had all the information and paperwork sent to me. Between the time we booked the apartment and our departure, Pat was in touch to explain the check in procedure, sent links to helpful websites (trains, museums, etc.) Italy Perfect also sends along other helpful information (like using phones in Italy.)
The apartment itself is wonderful, beautifully kept and decorated, and quite well equipped (I wasn't expecting a blender!) To top it off, it's right around the corner from the Piazza Santa Croce, and easy walking distance to all the main sights in Florence, even the Oltrarno area across the Arno River. The only time we took taxis were to/from the airport or train station. The neighborhood is lively during the day, but quiets down in the evening. Nevertheless, the apartment was always quiet, with the exception of the occasional church bell, which was charming! There is a small but well stocked grocery store around the corner, a farmers market, many restaurants in the area. Because the apartment is so centrally located, it was easy to spend time at a museum, stop for a gelato, then walk a short distance to the apartment to recharge before dinner or another adventure. We'll definitely be back!
