It was just as promised, clean, comfortable and very well located. Loved the area."
Upscale furnishings, historic fresco fragments and memorable views over Piazza Santa Croce, awake each morning in this landmark Renaissance Palazzo, aptly named…Paradiso!
Conveniently located in the heart of the historical center of Florence, in Piazza Santa Croce, the palazzo is a landmark Renaissance Palazzo, and one of the few left in the historic center of Florence with a dramatic frescoed facade.
During late May thru late June there is noise in the piazza related to the Calico Storico, historic soccer matches. Late May is bleacher set up, June is practices and matches. If you can catch any of the play-offs (dates not advised in advance) or the final on June 24th, you’ll get a rare treat and the “best seat in the house”. For more information look up Calcio Storico on YouTube.
Many people passing through Piazza Santa Croce notice Giovanni di Ser Giovanni`s 1620 frescoes on the overhanging facade this handsome building, but few realize they can actually stay here. The 16th-century palazzo is owned by the gracious Contessa Piccolomini, who rents out truly spacious apartments to anyone who has ever dreamed of lying in bed near a roaring fire under a 17th-century frescoed ceiling or sipping tea in a living room surrounded by trompe d`oeil Roman ruins with a 16th-century wood ceiling above.
Piazza Santa Croce is a traffic free square but the people going through the square in the evenings may be noisy. Noise from the piazza will reach the apartment, which is why the price of Paradiso is much lower than the other apartments in the building. Occasional events like the Calcio Storico (soccer in historic costumes) on June 18, 19 and 24th can be noisy.
On the second floor (American designation) of the Palazzo, there is an elevator 20 steps up from main entrance.
Very spacious living/dining room with open plan kitchen has decorative original wood beam ceilings and portions of medieval wall painting, windows overlooking the piazza. Pompeii red is the color accent that carries even into the bathrooms.
From the living room, double glass doors open onto a balconette overlooking the piazza.
Two bedrooms: master bedroom with queen size bed that can be divided into singles with en suite bathroom with shower. The historic frescoes in the bedroom have been carefully preserved and a special window in the floor provides a view down to where they run between the floors. Second bedroom with single beds that can be joined to form a queen, adjacent bathroom with tub/shower. Fully equipped cooking area in the living/dining room. Independent heating, central air-conditioning.
Facilities: Dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, dryer, oven, microwave oven, toaster, American coffee maker, satellite TV, stereo hi-fi, CD and DVD players, telephone, high speed wireless connection, answering machine, fax machine, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Use of Palazzo private Gym.

- Lovely apartments. Very comfortable and well appointed.
- We loved observing the daily life of the piazza starting with street cleaners, dog walkers, children going to school, the first tourists all the way till the after dinner strollers. So please note that sounds from the piazza will reach into the apartment.
- There are always things going on in the piazza including art installations, athletic events, music events, the big Calcio Storico at the end of June and the Christmas market that may involve the erecting of temporary structures.
- One of the lowest spots in the city, note the high water marks on the buildings in the neighborhood -- on the second floor.
- The Santa Croce church with the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and more is a wonderful visit.
Our Guest Reviews
Wonderful Penthouse at Santa Croce Plaza
While we had high hopes for our family week in Florence with our 3 grown up children; Miravista clearly exceeded our expectations. It was a very comfortable, nicely understated decorated, with good 2 1/2 bathrooms and ample kitchen, sunny penthouse. While it had a good modern elevator, other than the day we arrived and departed with the luggage, the 5 of us (age 63, 61, our children 34, 31 and 29) always preferred the fun of enjoying to walk up and down the 92 steps; particularly after a nice dinner. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit cold as to enjoy the beautiful terrace overlooking the Plaza and the mountains; if it were spring or summer we would have spent long hours there... Waking up and having a leisure breakfast in front of the large window and terrace overlooking the Plaza was a fantastic way to start the day. The restaurant below was one of the best we had and at good prices; the owners and staff were incredibly friendly; we spent new year's eve with them. The location was great; just a 3 block walk to most of the landmarks...and yet quiet enough from the bulk of the tourists. Finally, the host was very educated and made our checkin / checkout a breeze. In addition, Pat Byrne was incredibly friendly and efficient and was making sure our reservation, paperwork and itinerary was up to date....Thank you Pat & Madelyne!
Very good Apartment, well furnished, very comfortable, excellent location.
The Hosts were very good in communicating all information we needed the Restaurants suggested were very good.
All in all we had a very good experience .
The Apt. could provide a few things like Coffee, Tea, some drinks, milk etc this would specially when people arrive late and are not able to go shopping.
Would recommend to friends.
[Thank you so much for your kind review. We will do a better job of offering a shopping service for late arrivals, too. Thank you for the suggestion. The Italy Perfect Team]
The update is excellent. The unit and staff were great. We had no issue with noise. The unit has both rooms enclosed and a glass panel window to further assist with those late night parties.we did not hear anyone. Our niece and husband sleep in front room on fold out and they had no trouble with noise( this seem to be a concern we read about before arriving.)
The location is great, perfect with out the extreme crowds of the duomo.
We would stay again. In a minute.
Italyperfect was also very helpful and responsive to any needs, requests and upfront on all other fees we might entail. Italy tax fee, electric , gas and air conditioning was not included. It is reasonable if you don’t act like your in the Marriott and want to return to a cold room regardless of if your gone all day.
All in all , excellent experience!
[Thank you Diane, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay! The Italy Perfect Team]
Paradiso in Florence
We loved our one month stay here. A perfect location and a wonderful restaurant at street level that took great care of us! October was a perfect time as crowds were smaller so less noise at the apartment. Even though we were aware that there was going to be noise from the street I was still amazed that the windows were so thin and were not tight even were closed. This should be something that needs to be addressed. If I was ever to go back I would definitely go to a higher floor as to let in more light. Even with these suggestions my husband and I loved staying there. Lots of space and feeling of being part of a real neighborhood .
Having all the modern appliances was also a bonus.
The managers at the palazzo were fabulous and very helpful. It was definitely a plus having them there every day
I would recommend this apartment and location to everyone who wants to be at the center of a great city!
Perfect italy was so easy to work with and gave us so much information specific to the area.
[Thank you so much for your review of your stay. We’re so pleased you had a wonderful month in Florence. You mentioned the issue with the windows and I wanted to follow up to provide some insight about that. The palazzo has a historic designation, any changes have to get permission from the City and pass a very stringent review process which can take years (if not decades in Italy!), thus replacing windows is a really difficult challenge since it has to go through loads of historical reviews and red-tape, unfortunately.
We are very appreciative of your business and hope to welcome you back again! The Italy Perfect Team]
A Week in Florence
The accommodations were good and in a great location. Easy walking to many places of interest.
We were fortunate in that the weekend we were there there was a concert in the square in front of Santa Croce featuring the world renown tenor Placido Domingo. We got to watch and listen from our apartment balcony. Probably at least ten thousand ticket buyers as we took it all in for free.
[What a wonderful bonus for you. Thank you. The Italy Perfect Team]
My family and I rented three apartments in Palazzo Santa Crocei this summer in June and it was an amazing experience. We had stayed there before but with a larger group needed separate apartments. The balcony on Paradiso was amazing a bit loud at night but wonderful to hear the church bells and just people watch throughout the day. The apartment was a bit loud in general because you are so close to the piazza but how the furnishings were great and to stare at original frescoes on the wall while you went to sleep were just beautiful. Great location and beautiful apartments. So much better than staying at a hotel.
A lovely place!
We stayed at the S Croce Paradiso in July of 2015 with our niece for a week. The apartment was absolutely beautiful and very authentic Italian. It was clean, spacious and had all of the things you need for a comfortable stay. It was nice that the small things were provided as well - like soap, paper towels etc. The location was spectacular - you could people watch from the balcony and it was very close to many restaurants as well as the busy Piazza della Signora and Ponte Vecchio. All was within easy walking distance. Lots of shops and leather stores all around you as well. I preferred this location as it was a bit quieter - especially in July. The second bedroom was not as quiet due to the wall not reaching the ceiling, but it was only if someone was really loud in the piazza. It was not a problem at all! Our favourite restaurant was La Buchetta Cafe around the corner on via dei benci, and La Giostra for a more fine dining experience (on Borgo Pinti). Italy Perfect were wonderful as well.....we will be using Italy Perfect for our London trip next year!!
[Wow, thanks so much! You really enjoyed the experience! The Italy Perfect Team]
The location couldn't be better. Plenty of room for all five of us. Plus everyone had there own bath plus air conditioner in all rooms. Host were very accommodating and answered all questions. Only one flaw kitchen needed a few more items (soap for dishes and surfaces). Our six days couldn't have been better.
[We are delighted your stay was so nice. The Italy Perfect team]
This apartment was well maintained and very comfortable. The owner and manager were both very friendly and helpful . They truly made us feel at home, and were wonderful to deal with. We rented this apartment for my husband, myself and our three university aged children and there was plenty of room. The street noise is rather loud at night but this is offset by the location which affords both a wonderful view and access to many shops and restaurants . I very much enjoyed my time in Florence and I would stay in this apartment again. A heartfelt thank-you to Cecile who made us feel very welcome in our temporary home!
[Dear Ann Thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted you and your family enjoyed the apartment, Florence and the service provided by the manager, Cecile. This particular apartment is low in the building and the layout does allow the sounds of people in the piazza (it isn't traffic) to enter the apartment. Other nice apartments in this same building are organized and insulated so the sounds in the piazza don’t reach sleepers. The Italy Perfect team]
We were there!
The entire S Croce Square is wonderful. All of the restaurants are incredible! It is not possible to recommend one over another, each one has its own "specialness". Just the joy of walking, talking, sleeping in the Paradiso was our own personal "time-travel" location; we were there! We were there with Michaelangelo and Galileo as they rested in the S Croce Cathedral; we were there with the sights and sounds of the Renaissance all around. We walked the same streets, admired the same surrounding buildings. We were in awe of the fact that we had the opportunity to experience all of this history while staying in such a wonderful apartment. Lisa, we sincerely thank you for the opportunity to experience the beauty of the S Croce Paradiso!
