Overlooking a private Renaissance garden, the Santa Croce Benozzo will enchant you with glorious frescoes and elegant, light filled and spacious interiors with the bonus of a working fireplace! Each apartment features its own historic atmosphere with Renaissance murals, family heirloom antiques, and talented decorating. Many guests spend the season here, returning year after year.
Conveniently located in the heart of the historical center of Florence, in Piazza Santa Croce, the Palazzo Antellesi is a landmark Renaissance Palazzo, and one of the few left in the historic center of Florence with a dramatic frescoed facade.
Many people passing through Piazza Santa Croce notice Giovanni di Ser Giovanni`s 1620 frescoes on the overhanging facade this handsome building, but few realize they can actually stay here. The 16th-century palazzo is owned by the gracious Contessa Piccolomini, who rents out truly spacious apartments to anyone who has ever dreamed of lying in bed near a roaring fire under a 17th-century frescoed ceiling or sipping tea in a living room surrounded by trompe d`oeil Roman ruins with a 16th-century wood ceiling above.
On the third floor (American designation) of the Palazzo, with elevator up 5 steps from main entrance.
Very light, overlooking the private Renaissance garden. Elegant and spacious living/dining room with working fireplace and frescoed ceiling. To preserve the integrity of the ceiling, the hallway is separated by half-height walls with handsome columns forming the entry.
By special arrangement the Benozzo apartment can be joined with the Donatello apartment to become a 6 bedroom apartment that can accommodate 11 + 1. Please request a price quote.

- The twin bedroom in Benozzo is one of our favorites rooms ever. The white on green decorative painting is like a fine china pattern. Lovely apartments. Very comfortable and well appointed.
- Bathroom layout should be reviewed by guest, no ensuite bathrooms, all bathrooms are at one end of the apartment. See layout diagram.
- Does not face the piazza, so quieter than piazza-facing apartments in the same palazzo.
- The Santa Croce church with the tombs of Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and more is worth a day.
- Additional fees for utilities that are charged according to use.
Our Guest Reviews
Wonderful Penthouse at Santa Croce Plaza
While we had high hopes for our family week in Florence with our 3 grown up children; Miravista clearly exceeded our expectations. It was a very comfortable, nicely understated decorated, with good 2 1/2 bathrooms and ample kitchen, sunny penthouse.
While it had a good modern elevator, other than the day we arrived and departed with the luggage, the 5 of us (age 63, 61, our children 34, 31 and 29) always preferred the fun of enjoying to walk up and down the 92 steps; particularly after a nice dinner.
Unfortunately, the weather was a bit cold as to enjoy the beautiful terrace overlooking the Plaza and the mountains; if it were spring or summer we would have spent long hours there...
Waking up and having a leisure breakfast in front of the large window and terrace overlooking the Plaza was a fantastic way to start the day.
The restaurant below was one of the best we had and at good prices; the owners and staff were incredibly friendly; we spent new year's eve with them.
The location was great; just a 3 block walk to most of the landmarks...and yet quiet enough from the bulk of the tourists.
Finally, the host was very educated and made our checkin / checkout a breeze.
In addition, Pat Byrne was incredibly friendly and efficient and was making sure our reservation, paperwork and itinerary was up to date....Thank you Pat & Madelyne!
Wonderful Stay in Florence!
Loved the location of the apartments. We were two families staying in two apartments in Florence. We were able to walk everywhere with no issues. Pat at Italy Perfect was absolutely wonderful to work with! She gave us very helpful suggestions and advice on what to do, who to use for drivers, and arranging tours. You don't have to worry about finding great restaurants - there are a million to choose from, all within walking distance. I would definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend! We plan on using them again!

Wonderful time in Italy in August
Just wanted to let you know we had a wonderful time in Italy in August! Thank you so much for all of your help. I also wanted to mention that the driver we had, Benjamin, was absolutely wonderful and I appreciated the recommendation. He helped make our trip even better, sharing all kinds of information with us on our long drives to and from Rome. And the tours were fantastic! Thanks again!
The location couldn't be better. Plenty of room for all five of us. Plus everyone had there own bath plus air conditioner in all rooms. Host were very accommodating and answered all questions. Only one flaw kitchen needed a few more items (soap for dishes and surfaces). Our six days couldn't have been better.

Our apartment was very comfortable, quiet, clean, and well equipped.
Our apartment was very comfortable, quiet, clean, and well equipped. It was located in a historic palazzo turned into apartments on the Piazza Santa Croce. Our interests were in history, art, and architecture so the location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere and even manage one of our party in a wheelchair. There is a "super" market a few blocks away for anything from staples to fine wine. We ate well everyday in a restaurant near our morning excursions, so all over the historic area. Food was great everywhere. Our travel companions are world-class consumers of gelato and give world-class honors to the small gelateria around the corner, facing the convent associated with Santa Croce. The folks at Italy Perfect were very helpful. And, yes, I would certainly seek them out again and recommend them to friends.
Old world charm
Five adult friends recently shared the Benozzo apt. of the Palazzo Antellesi in the Santa Croce Plaza. We appreciated the wonderful central location, the modern kitchen, and the comfortable dining and living room furniture. The services provided by the staff were prompt and congenial. There were some Wi-Fi connection problems but Patricia actually gave us her cell number so we could text for immediate new codes when we got "bumped" from system. We enjoyed walking proximity to both central market and supermarket for our cooking supplies and both the air conditioners and washer/dryer worked great. I would definitely recommend this accommodation to friends. Benozzo is nicely situated as it has windows opening upon the central garden rather than onto the crowds on the plaza. The restaurant next door also served very nice salads when we did not want to cook. We enjoyed our stay there.
The apartment was wonderful.Very comfortable.Kitchen had everything that we needed.Plus air conditioning. Location couldn't of been better. Pat was great to work with. She really took care of all of our questions and made it so easy for us.The plaza was hosting the historical game of the “Calcio in Costume” (Historical Soccer Game)on the day of our arrival. We were met by the apartment management-our apartment faced the courtyard-not the plaza- which worked out great.Less noise. They let us watch the game from another apartment facing the plaza.Everything was within walking distance.Grocery just down the street. Can't go wrong with the apartment or working with Italy Perfect.
Santa Croce Benozzo Apartment
I travelled with my family of 10. Five of us stayed in the Benozzo while the other five stayed in the S. Croce Tosca.
It was spacious with comfortable amenitites (washer/dryer, dishwasher, all kitchen appliances,tv, etc.). There were 3 bedrooms and two and a half baths. The livingroom/diningroom was very comfortable and roomy.
Well-situated and we could walk to many of the sites like the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, Ponte Vecchio, churches, Duomo, shops, and restaurants. If you need a taxi, the station is just a few steps from the apartment building.
S. Croce Benozzo is in the back of the building so very quiet. Since these apartments have different landlords, charges above the rental fee may differ. You will have to pay for the utilities.
[The apartments in this building are all owned by the same family and have the same policies. The guest is referring to a different wifi payment policy at another apartment elsewhere in Florence that includes wifi in the price of the apartment. Italy Perfect]
Instructions ask visitors to be considerate of the residents in the building. We reminded our children (ages 10-15) to keep their voices down, especially in the stairwell and to step lightly in the apartment. Our apartment was very clean and we tried to leave it that way.
This is an apartment building so there is no concierge or valet service. The elevator is small so we used the stairs. Our family liked the space after being in hotel rooms for a few days.
I appreciated the very efficient service I received from Italy Perfect. They always responded promptly to my emails.
The apartment was lovely.
