Two medieval towers rise up next door, relics of a bygone era, and are still inhabited today. This area was heavily bombed in World War II but fortunately the Ponte Vecchio was spared, along with a few ancient buildings in this special part of Florence. The building where the Jacopo apartment is located is a survivor, dating back to the 15th century. Many small artisan craft workshops can be found as you wander the streets: leather craft shops, jewelry makers, furniture workrooms, upholsterers, bespoke shoe craftsmen, picture fr
The Oltrarno area of Florence has a special village-like atmosphere. Winding streets, fewer crowds, yet only steps across the famed Ponte Vecchio footbridge which takes you across in five minutes to the very center of the city.

Located on a very small street that is in the limited traffic zone of Florence, closed to through traffic except local residents and delivery vehicles. The neighborhood is very convenient since it is such an easy walk to the sites, restaurants and cafes. Only a two minute walk to Piazza Santo Spirito where you can enjoy the many good restaurants and morning fresh produce vendor's stalls. Nearby is the Ponte Vecchio where you'll also find several good cafes clustered in the neighborhood areas at either end. A favorite neighborhood gelateria, La Carrozza, is a few minutes walk away.
Next door are the prominent Torri dei Barbadori, the towers of the feudal Barbadori family which captures the visitors attention. These towers, and the few other 11th and 12th century towers still standing in the city, are much beloved by locals. A small grocery store is situated just half block from the apartment, so convenient! Just a block away is Borgo San Jacopo, for which the apartment is named, the oldest street on the Oltrarno side of Florence. This area was rebuilt after World War II which accounts for many of the buildings which date to the 1950's in the neighborhood. Tucked away within a block or two are several of our favorite Florence restaurants.
Just one block away is the Arno river where you can enjoy picture postcard views of the river and Florentine hills.
The building dates to the 15th century on a small street. The building is three stories high has only two or three apartments per floor.
The apartment is lofted style with the open bedroom overlooking the living room. It has a generously sized pleasant eat-in kitchen. Fully up-to-date it has handsome Tuscan-style cabinetry, an attractive round dining table.
Once in the living room the dramatically high ceilings open up to the original antique beams above. A high quality comfortable sofa is next to the two windows that overlook the narrow street below. The living room has a ottoman that opens up to become a twin bed perfect for a child or extra guest. A writing table tucked under the stairs that lead up to the sleeping loft provides a work place if you bring along a laptop. There is a wireless internet.
Up twelve steps to the sleeping loft with queen size bed and bathroom. There is generous wall-to-wall closet space and good bedside lighting for reading at night. A pretty Florentine hand-painted dresser provides even more clothing storage space.
The tiled bathroom has a fully enclosed shower, sink, bidet and toilet.

• Great location, one of the most sought-after areas of historic Florence
• Ottoman-bed in living room is probably best for a child or a sound sleeper
• Very pleasant kitchen and bathroom. Apartment does not get a lot of direct sunlight due to low position in the building.
• Good storage space in the bedroom
• Some pedestrian noise when windows are open

| Wonderful Jacopo! | Oct 2009 |
The Jacopo apartment is great. Everything you need and more. Beautifully appointed, convenient to most tourist sites by walking. Neighborhood busy, but accommodating, with small grocery store, bakeries, post office, and more. |

| It was even better then we expected! | Sep 2009 |
Thank you so much for everything. The Jacopo apartment was just what we had hoped for...and more! The location was fantastic, we walked everywhere. It was always an easy walk when our feet got tired to get back to our Jacopo apartment "home" . There were so many terrific neighborhood amenities, great cafe around the corner, little supermarket half-a-block away, wonderful restaurants. The apartment was nicely furnished, clean and so comfortable. We would stay here and again and will recommend it to our friends. The greeter was polite and friendly too. Thank you for all the thorough confirmation materials which we poured over before our trip which really helped us prepare. |

| We thoroughly enjoyed the Jacopo apartment | Jun 2009 |
We thoroughly enjoyed the Jacopo apartment. It is really cute and very comfortable and is in an excellent location. My only comment on the apartment was that it would have been nice to have a kitchen towel for cleaning up the dishes. We did have trouble when we first arrived. The contact person was very irritated with me because I kept trying to call him and couldn't get through and he already had someone waiting at the apartment. I was never able to get through on his cell, I tried all the day before and again when we got into Florence. I finally got him on his home phone . I did not go directly to the apt. because your instructions were explicit about calling first and I did not think anyone would be there. It took us 45 minutes to finally get through to him, partly because we were in first class at the very outside of the train and it took us 15 minutes to walk to the station and then we went to the bathroom and then I had to wait for a phone and then started trying to call him over and over. This was all a little disconcerting, but, as I said, we loved the apartment. We are very sorry that the cleaning lady forgot to leave dish towels in the kitchen & have rectified this oversight. We hope that guests feel comfortable calling the local manager to request missing items, such as this. Dialing Italian phone numbers can be very confusing due to various prefixes if dialing from a U.S. cell phone. It must have been very frustrating for this guest but we're glad they eventually made contact & enjoyed their stay! Lisa Italy Perfect |

| The apartment had a superb location and was charming | Jun 2009 |
I wanted to drop you a line to let you know that we had a wonderful holiday and to thank you for the great accommodations. The apartment in Florence had a superb location and was charming and full of everything we could have wanted, toiletries, kitchen supplies etc. The greeter had a bottle of wine and maps for us upon our arrival, just lovely. So thank you once again, having done rentals for the first time, it is definitely superior over a hotel. |

| Jacopo Apartment | Jun 2009 |
The apartment was cute and in a great location. The two flights of stairs might be tough on someone not in decent shape. The apartment was a bit dark and very noisy. [See Italy Perfect review above which notes this.] Don't blow dry your hair and use either appliance at the same time or you will blow the power which then has to be reset by flipping a switch in the wooden box that houses the mailboxes at the entrance of the building.[Standard situation in Italian homes, guest information covers this.] Everything was fun and an experience. Italy Perfect's service was absolutely wonderful and we would definitely use their services again. Their desc |

| We especially loved the location of this apartment | May 2009 |
We were very pleased with this accomodation. The apartment comfortably accomodated me, my husband and our 12 year old daughter. The apartment was very nicely furnished and decorated. Although we did not really cook any meals the kitchen was large and seemed well equipped. We especially loved the location of this apartment, in a lively and attractive neighborhood. There were numerous excellent restaurants and shops nearby, as well as an outdoor market. The apartment was very secure and the neighborhood seemed very safe. We were also within walking distance of all of the major attractions. We have rented vacations apartments in Germany and France and this agency was the best we have worked with to date. They were responsive, well organized, and there were no hidden fees or other unpleasant surprises. I would recommend this apartment for a couple or a family of three. |
