We would go back in a heartbeat.
A perfect medieval castle overlooks the hamlet "borgo" that has been turned into a vacation village with ten accommodations as well as a four room B&B. The views of the Chianti hills are open and lovely.
Between Siena and Arezzo, a little off the beaten track, the fairy tale castle of Bucine rises from the hills of Tuscany. The hamlet next to the castle has been transformed into a vacation village with luxury apartments and villas.
And all of Chianti and Tuscany lie beyond with so many fabled towns and villages to explore, you will be torn between enjoying your village or visiting new ones. You are, amazingly, a fifteen minute drive from the A1 highway that links Rome with Florence, but unless you know how to find this property, it is unlikely you will discover it. Arezzo, famous for its antiques market, charm, and medieval jousting is half an hour`s drive. Siena is a 45 minute drive, Florence an hour, and Rome`s airport about three hours. You can avoid driving into Florence by catching the local train that gets you right into the center of that city in an hour.
The restaurant that serves six days a week during mid and high season is a real bonus. Breakfast is included with the B&B rooms and is available to apartment and cottage residents for an extra charge. Dinner served five nights: M,T,Th,F,Sat. There is a small bar and local wine and olive oil are available for purchase. You may reserve cycling tours, mountain bike rentals, guided walks and treks, and private or group cooking lessons.
This lovely property has so much to offer to the vacationer whether a couple or an extended family. The variety of accommodations welcomes mixed groups and family reunions, too. Close to well-known towns like Arezzo and Siena, it also lets you wander solitary among the olive groves and ancient hills.
The property has 700 acres of woods, olive groves and vineyards to wander. An unrestored borgo used for farm purposes lies a hundred yards down the road and just beyond is a fishing lake. Fishing poles are available. The large, sunny swimming pool (26x66 feet or 8x20m) is almost competition size.
The accommodations merit four stars, luxurious but not opulent. The restorations have been beautifully done, respecting the ancient architectural elements and providing wonderful views. The furnishings are of a high quality. The apartments have air conditioning in the bedrooms, external telephone lines, well-equipped kitchens, and satellite TV for English language news programs, placing these accommodations a cut above many.
The entrance of Belvedere is on the ground floor across a large private south-facing terrace into a spacious living room with windows overlooking the central lane with satellite TV. Dining room opens onto the living room and, through a stone archway to the kitchen with oven, gas stove top, and refrigerator freezer. Large bedroom with queen sized bed and double doors opening onto a second private terrace that faces the castle. Second large bedroom with queen sized bed. All of the rooms are on the ground floor with one step between the living room and bedrooms.
Two bathrooms with showers. One bathroom is en suite, the other bathroom is separate.

We would be very happy to go back.
I wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that our trip to Tuscany and Rome was wonderful. Your help and your website really made our trip run very smoothly. We found Bucine to be a wonderful, serene spot in the Tuscan hills and being off the beaten path only added to the magic. The accommodations were beautiful, clean and well tended. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. Antonella is personable, kind and attentive. Her suggestions for dinner and towns to explore were spot on. We would be very happy to go back. Thank you for connecting us with a special place.
Delightful stay in Tuscany
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bucine Belvedere. The accommodations were spotless and lovely. Antonella could not have been nicer. Her cooking and her hospitality were wonderful.
We would definitely stay there again.
The location was great as a base for touring through Tuscany.
We have already recommended this villa and Italy Perfect to many other people.
Our favorite place
This is our fifth trip to Bucine and as always we were welcomed and treated royally. We come off season, so we were the only guests at this time, it was very quiet and private. The apartment we rented is for two people and is just perfect with a small fireplace, adequate kitchen with a stove and oven. It is very clean and very well maintained. The staff is always available if you have questions and they have good recommendations. There are many hiking trails if you like that sort of thing, and Florence is and Arezzo are a 30 minute drive away, Cortona is about 45 minutes away. I would recommend shopping in the small shops in downtown Bucine, you need to check the store hours, but they have an excellent meat market and fruit and vegetable market. The Coop store at the top of the hill is not that great. We will definitely return, hopefully next fall.
[We so appreciate your repeat business and your fondness for Bucine! The Italy Perfect Team]
We were very pleased with our accommodations
We were very pleased with our accommodations…great location for catching train to Florence and visiting the surrounding towns in Tuscany. I would definitely recommend to our traveling friends. We so enjoyed getting to know the owners!
Never having visited Italy or Tuscany before, the vast beauty was overwhelming. The remote nature of Tenuta Lupinari only enhanced that sense. The accomomdations were not only adequate but difficult to describe even with picture to our friends and family here in the U.S. We were treated with great respect by the stafff. We had several requests and they were attended to immediately and with gentleness and concern. It woud have been to our advantage to have used their restaurant facitlies more than we did. Going to other locations, for instance nearby Ambra opened up numerous excellent dining choices, but missing the special cooking at Lupinari is our loss. Next time! I have previously commented that by coming at the beginnin gof the low season meant that for four of our seven days we were the only guests. This allowed the staff more flexibiity but also left us isolated betweeen 9 pm and 9 am. Nothing like utter silence and darkness away from everything and everybody to spark one's imagination of 'creepy things in the night.' Our day trips to Montapulciano, Montalcino, Venice, Florence, Sienna and Orvieto were made with ease, especially from the Bucine Train Station.. (a ticket machine, no staff there, but many trains throughout the day to make it convenient.) There are two vineyards within a short and easy drive that we would highly recommend for atmosphere, wine tasting and local conversation--Fattoria Casabianca Agriturismo, Miglarina, and a third, Felsina. Il campo in Sienna is a surprise treat among the many delights of Tuscany. Thumbs up to Italy Perfect! Thx
We spent over a week, off-season, at the Bucine Belvedere apartment in October and have nothing but great things to say about the property, the staff, the location and the overall experience. We also loved being there in October! The accommodations are very nice and the grounds are spectacular. We had excellent meals at the restaurant, both breakfast and dinner, and loved wandering the grounds when we had a few spare minutes. It was not swimming pool season, though the pool looked very inviting. Some of party had a lovely tea with the owner in the castle. The property is an easy drive from Florence, 45 minutes, but feels remote. A lot of great day trips--San Gimignano, Montepuliciano, Cortona, Arezzo, etc. Very easy drives. Marianna's restaurant recommendations were great--we particularly loved Duddova, which is about 10 minutes away. The restaurant has about 5 tables and is fun by the Leonardo family. We had a blast, as well as an excellent meal. Overall our stay was lovely and we would be delighted to visit again. A very special place.

Bucine, apartment Belvedere
This is our second time staying here, and we loved it, can't wait to return. We were greeted warmly, and they helped us with reservations at a winery and dinner, and we're always available to help.
The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean.
bucine...Lupinar, the estate, is FANTASTIC in pretty much every way. The villas are first class; the grounds are expansive, user friendly, and diverse;the food is unmatched;and the proximity for day trips is excellent. The staff is professional, informed and friendly...this was the best week of our 8 week tour through Italy.
Great for any family or combination of people on holiday.
The villa in Tuscany worked out really well.
The villa in Tuscany worked out really well. With 4 daughter, 2 older and 2 toddlers the larger accommodations were perfect. We really enjoyed exploring the Tuscan region. Each day was a new adventure as we drove our Ford van here and there seeing the sights. We originally thought that we would relax and spend more time at the villa but ended up putting over 500 miles on the van that week alone. No problems, but did lose our security deposit when my wife and daughter decided to blow-up the cooktop. Long story, quite funny really. Loved the location and surrounding area. May have been a little too remote for us. But having the car really helped. Most of the local restaurants were good and had friendly service. Each little town seemed to have its own specialties and it was fun to explore each to see the differences. We visited, Aretzo, Siena, San Giminagno, Mont Riggioni, the Chianti region, Montevarchi, and several others. (town names spelled to best of my memory) Tips: Recommend using a GPS unit when driving the area. Usually very accurate but at times put us into some strange situations that all turned out to be fun and exciting. Tip 2 don't cook on top of the glass cover of the range, that's not what it is there for. Thank you for all your help. We will not hesitate to recommend you to others.
We all would go back in a heartbeat.
I must say that I feel that I know you personally. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you so much for helping Jennifer prepare such an amazing and memorable trip. All the arrangements were perfect. The Castello di Lupinari was the perfect setting for my family. I must tell you that the owners of this property are some of the most lovely people we have ever met. We all would go back in a heartbeat.
