Savor the best of historic Rome at the inviting Archetto apartment. The Archetto apartment offers comfort and cheeriness, providing a relaxing refuge in the bustling center of Rome. Wonderful location, bright top-floor position, roominess and good layout. To top it off, it has both a sunny terrace plus a sweet balcony. The apartment is as charming as you can imagine.
A trip to Rome would not be complete without a stop at the Trevi Fountain to toss in three coins and make a wish. One of Rome`s legends, memoralized in the 1954 classic movie Three Coins in the Foutain, it`s a breathtaking site that never fails to impress, no matter how many times you see it. You`ll be pleased to find a real Roman neighborhood thriving within a 2-minute walk just behind the Piazza di Trevi. Good bakeries, cafes, fresh fruit and vegetable stands, pizzerie, one of Rome`s most prized geletaria`s and handy access to public transportation are just some of the great aspects of this location.
The apartment is located on the top floor of a small building on a narrow side-street only a 2-minute walk to the Trevi Fountain. You`ll be pleased with your unique advantage: you can pop `round during the early morning hours to get your morning bread or pastries at our favorite neighborhood bakery just off the Piazza di Trevi, and you`ll find that you have the entire piazza nearly to yourself. You might see a lone street sweeper and a few other early birds, but it`s a special time to take in Rome`s largest baroque fountain, which marks the ending of ancient Rome`s Aqua Vergine aqueduct.
Across the street from the Archetto building is the North American chapter of the Pontifical Gregorian University, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola over 450 years ago. You`ll see priests coming and going in the street and at neighborhood restaurants, and they are welcome neighbors. The views of this pale ochre building has a pleasing geometry, characteristic roof tiles and simple, classic Italian textures.
Downstairs is a favorite neighborhood restaurant, Dell`Archetto, with reasonable prices on an impressive variety of pasta and pizza. While there are many other good restaurants to choose from you`ll probably find yourself returning to Dell`Archetto again and again, the food is good and it`s just so easy to go downstairs if you are tired from a full day of sightseeing.
The music of the city can be heard in many aspects of this location: the church bells ringing, the seagulls calling, a stray tune of opera playing in a neighbor`s apartment, the whir at sunset as flocks of swallows soar overhead, choirs in the churches and whistling workmen.
The apartment building is small and nicely maintained, it has an elevator. Downstairs is a favorite neighborhood restaurant, Dell`Archetto, with reasonable prices on an amazing variety of pasta and pizza. While there are many other good restaurants to choose from you`ll probably find yourself returning to Dell`Archetto again and again, the food is good and it`s just so easy to go downstairs if you are tired from a full day of sightseeing.
With a coveted, sunny top-floor position the Archetto apartment delights with charm and comfort. The roomy living room is furnished with a queen size sofa bed and a foldaway single hassock bed. There is a large window overlooking the street, five floors below. The room`s decor inspiration is the fresco painting over the sofa, painted in a bouquet of springtime colors. Bookshelves along the opposite wall hold light reading material, guidebooks, a few English language DVD`s, remote controls, stereo, and flat screen TV. An upholstered chair, carved wooden armchair and coffee table complete the room. It`s the perfect spot to while away an afternoon reading, napping on the sofa or enjoying cocktails before heading out to the bounty of wonderful restaurants that Rome has to offer.
Opening onto the living room is the dining area which seats four. It has French doors two steps up leading out to a Juliette balcony, also overlooking the street down below. A bonus feature is that the living room and dining room windows of the Archetto apartment are completely private, no one can see in. Sit on the little balcony and watch the world go by, it never fails to entertain. Also on the balcony is a small storage closet containing cleaning supplies, you`ll find a collapsable laundry drying rack out here too.
The entry area has an antique bureau, good for clothing storage for guests using the sofa bed, a handy coat rack, and a leather campaign chair, providing a cozy den-like reading area.
The bedroom and kitchen are towards the back of the apartment and are also accessed off the entryway.
The kitchen is compact, best for one cook at a time, it features a large refrigerator with separate freezer section, four-burner gas stove, combination microwave/convection oven, drip and espresso coffee pots, electric tea kettle, toaster. No dishwasher or regular oven.
We saved the best for last! Accessed from the kitchen is the jewel of the apartment, the sunny terrace which will be your outdoor living and dining room during Rome`s good weather which, compared to many places in the world, can cover six months of the year. The terrace has a small dining table and two chairs. Two more chairs from the front balcony can be moved to the terrace for four person dining, although the table is small for four people. It is a perfect, peaceful spot for morning coffee, alfresco lunches or toasting the sunset during your Roman holiday.
The bedroom has interior facing windows, it overlooks the backs of other buildings across the way, a huge bonus in the bustling center of Rome. It is a very quiet bedroom, although with the windows open you may hear the sound of plates clattering at night in the kitchen of the restaurant on the ground floor level in the building next door.
The bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, two stairs up from the bedroom. Guests with mobility issues take note. The bathroom was completely remodeled in 2011, with aquamarine tiles, a large glassed-in rainfall shower, toilet and sink.

Guest Book Testimonials
Awesome time at Archetto!
Archetto was by far the best experience and lodging place in our recent Italian trip. Well located, beautifully decorated, and most important: with an awesome and very helpful greeter! She came to our aid to fix a little problem with the wifi connection right away. She is a wonderful and hard worker lady who will make sure that your stay at the Archetto goes smoothly! Can't wait to go back to this amazing place! See you soon Archetto!
We were completely happy with our stay at Archetto. Often, one has a slightly disappointed feeling when you finally get to see the place you have seen photos of on line - Not so with this apartment! It was exactly as pictured and frankly, even more charming in person. Everything is in great condition and the decor is just lovely. Thoughtful photos of Rome on the walls, several guide books, and spacious rooms with comfortable furniture. We were greatful for the washing machine and the kitchen facilities. The area is terrific - so close to the Pantheon. The only disappointing (which has nothing to do with the apartment) thing is that the Trevi Fountain is being repaired and will be without water and under construction for the next 12 months. We found many, many great restuaurants over near the Piazza Navona, not on the Piazza proper, but off the beaten track a bit. We used the car service of Stephano - Marco actually picked us up and was beyond kind. Our son had a bloody nose and he reclined the seat for him, gave us all water, including a frozen bottle to help with the bloody nose. He called our greater who was there the moment we arrived at the apartment to show us everything. This place has it all, location, decor, lovely building which is very quiet and well kept, and the balcony. One can feel a bit like a local for at least a few days.
Location, Location, Location
This home was very centrally located. We were able to walk to almost everything. The home was very comfortable and well appointed. It is a one bedroom that sleeps 5 comfortably. We traveled with three kids and it accomodated us well. Italy Perfect was a great company to work with. They were always quick to respond and very nice. Also Rosie, who met us at check in was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this home to others staying in Rome.
Archetto May 2014
We were greeted as arranged by Rosie's husband (we arrived just on 10am) and then met Rosie about an hour later. Rosie was always available if we needed her . The property is in a great location and we were able to walk to all our destinations. We made extensive use of the balcony outside the kitchen. The wireless connection never worked in all the time we were there - as hard as Rosie tried to get it up and running. The washing machine did not work and there was no hot water when we arrived. Rosie sorted this out on her second visit and discovered that the water been turned off somewhere under the kitchen sink because of a previous leak and then not turned back on again. We were somewhat disappointed by this since we arrived 2 days into our paid period. Apart from these issues which were promptly resolved by Rosie within the first 6 hours of our arrival everything was perfect and we enjoyed our stay. We will recommend Italy Perfect to our friends.
Lovely, though "unplugged"
Everything was great at "Archetto" except the Internet connection. Rosie tried to get it going and was successful at the outset. I could never get a strong enough signal again. At our request Rosie came again and left a note saying that it was working, but I couldn't log on. I have subsequently been in five different accommodations, including your property in Firenze. I have had no Internet connection trouble whatsoever in any of these. Other than that, we loved Archetto. The location was perfect ... right in the middle of things. Your preliminary information was helpful and your recommendations for restaurants, stores, etc. were most welcomed. Archetto was comfortable and well-equipped.
Thank you for your happy note. Sorry the internet was problematic. We will certainly investigate the problem. Italy Perfect Team.
A comfortable place
The Archetto apartment is a comfortable place conveniently located. The bed is an Italian queen, and very comfortable. The living room furniture was quite comfortable as well. The kitchen was stocked with the basics we needed, and the owners left a welcome basket of bread, pasta, and wine as well. Even the restaurant downstairs "L'Archetto", not fancy but good, was convenient a couple of evenings. Others will tell you about how nicely decorated a place is, how nice the hosts are, or how wonderful the neighborhood is. But when I travel I crave comfort above all else in the place I stay. This place provided that and more. I would definitely recommend it to others.
a spacious apartment in a wonderful location
The Archetto is located on a quiet cobblestone street near the Trevi Fountain. From it, we were able to walk almost everywhere in Rome: to the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum and Forum, the Ghetto area, Vatican City, even to great shopping on the Corso. The apartment is neat and spacious, with absolutely every amenity you could think of, including many books on Rome. There are many good restaurants in the area, including The Archetto next door and, our favorite, Il Chianti, which we went to three times in the week we were there. The only thing that was less than ideal was the entryway to the apartment house. There was some construction going on in the back of the hallway near the elevator, and it was unattractive and unwelcoming, though it will probably be finished by the time anyone else rents the apartment. Otherwise, Italy Perfect was perfect. Pat was a dream to work with, responsive and efficient, and the many pages of advice and recommendations that were sent by email were invaluable. I will certainly use the organization again and recommend it to friends.
Winter Vacation in Rome
Apartment Archetto is clean, up to date in furnishings, with a few antique pieces adding to its character. The kitchen is small but efficient, and opens onto a small terrace with table and chairs. We ate there whenever the weather allowed. There is also a balcony that looks onto the street, where you can sit to catch some sun. The apartment is more than comfortable for two people. Our two daughters joined us for part of our stay, one sleeping in the living room on the studio couch, quite comfortable, she reported, and the other on a fold up cot with sturdy mattress. The apartment accommodated these extra beds, but we were quick to fold them up in the morning.
The apartment is well located. We walked everywhere. La Fontana di Trevi is just a few minutes away, at its best when the afternoon sun highlights its beauty. At this hour, though, the crowds are thick, less so in early morning or late evening.
A small but adequate supermarket, Fornaio, is just around the corner from the fountain. A larger one, Despar, is a few blocks past the fountain, has a full range of food, including take-out, and a large supply of wines in the basement.
It’s hard to choose from the many restaurants in the area, from exclusive to modest, from eating pizza on the run, to dining outdoors under a heat lamp, but I would single out Piccolo Arancio, a popular restaurant in the hard to find alley, Vicolo Scanderberg, very near the fountain. It’s a good idea to make reservations.
As to museums, the Palazzo/Museo Colonna is well worth a visit. It’s only a few blocks away from the apartment, on Via della Pilotta, #17. They give tours in English Saturday mornings at noon.
Enough said. Apartment Archetto suited us well.
