The Trastevere neighborhood of Rome's historic center is one of the most sought-after vacation rental apartment locations due to its charm and special character. Visitors delight in the many wonderful outdoor restaurants in the area. The nice terrace of the Dorotea apartment is a wonderful feature that is hard-to-find in this historic, central location.
Rome’s Trastevere neighborhood is prized by the young and young-at-heart for its village atmosphere. Old world, offbeat, winding cobblestone streets, many restaurants and uniqueness make it a popular spot for visitors to Rome!
The neighborhood abounds with restaurants, shops and sites, whether it is an ancient monument or seeing how locals, known as Trasteverini, still hang laundry out to dry over the narrow streets. A few minutes walk from the apartment is famous Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, which welcomes all with it lively “all the world’s a stage” setting and beautiful church, believed to be one of the oldest in Rome.
The apartment is conveniently located just a few blocks from John Cabot University, one of Rome's most established study abroad campuses, making it a convenient apartment for friends and family who come to Rome to visit a student or faculty.
The apartment building is accessed off a small passageway with 15 steps off the street. Walk up the passageway to reach the apartment building's front door, once inside the building the apartment's front door is immediately to the left.
The sunny decor and bright terrace of the Dorotea apartment provide a comfortable and central location for visitors to the Eternal City.
As you step through the apartment front door you are greeted by a clean, newly remodeled living room with round dining table that can seat up to four people, just beyond is a convertible sofa that opens up to sleep one person.
The bedroom is on the other side of the living room, separated by a partial wall. French doors in the bedroom open onto the sunny terrace. Touches of warm wood in the living room area with the dining table, buffet, and handsome wood armoire in the bedroom mix pleasantly with the modern sofa , bedroom area and lighting. The bedroom can be made up as two twins or a dual-king bed.
Beyond the living room is a doorway leading to the kitchen. The fully furnished kitchen is completely up-to-date with a convenient counter with two barstools for eating light meals. A delightful spot for a quick meal or breakfast.
Off the bedroom is the bathroom with bathtub with overhead shower attachment, toilet and bidet.
We've saved the best for last: the terrace! Step through the French doors off the bedroom or kitchen and you can enjoy sun-drenched days and balmy nights on the large, nicely planted patio. Furnished with a teak patio table and chairs, this is a delightful place to enjoy Rome's Mediterranean climate and savor "La Dolce Vita". Imagine lazy, languorous afternoons outside on the terrace.
This is city living so neighbors above can see you (and will probably be envious) soaking up the sun and enjoying meals al fresco on the terrace.
There is a cafe next door that sometimes plays loud music at night so if you might be bothered by this please take note, or bring your earplugs.

| We had a wonderful time at this apartment. Great location. | Oct 2011 |
We had a wonderful time at this apartment. The location was perfect. The room is open concept, but nicely subdivided. Everything was clean, and exactly as portrayed. The kitchen equipment provided was what we needed. We made many meals there and enjoyed them on our private terrace. The café downstairs was adorable and we befriended Guiseppe (the owner) in no time. Yes, the area is noisy, but really, it's the only way to be at the heart of things. We walked around every night and discovered cute little shops and restaurants in every side street. The atmosphere is amazing in Trastevere, young and old just relax and enjoy their evening. Not a touristy feel for such a close distance to Rome's center. Our only recommendation: The mattresses are much too hard. My husband and I have no issues with hard beds, but these ones were rock solid and had a noticeable curve in the middle of each... They were very clean though, and I'm allergic to dust, so I can tell ;) We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thank you as well for your input about the firm mattress, a memory foam topper has now been added as of November 2011, for the increased comfort of our guests. Lisa - Italy Perfect |

| Great location, lovely terrace | May 2011 |
We really enjoyed our stay at the Dorotea apartment. The best things about it are without doubt the location and the lovely terrace. The apartment was clean and comfortable and a great place to come back and relax after a day of sightseeing. We loved the terrace which meant we could sit out in the sun with a glass of wine and feel as if we were really living in Italy. Trastevere is a great area to stay, lots of very good restaurants and bars very close by and although it's busy it feels less touristy than some other areas of Rome. All the major sites are within about a 30 min walk with some being much closer. The booking process with Italy Perfect was very straightforward and all the information that we were provided with was very useful. We were warned about the potential for noise from the cafe downstairs. This did keep us awake until around 2am on a couple of nights but didn't take away from our enjoyment of the apartment overall. Staying in this apartment you experience what it's like to live in the middle of a bustling community. You can hear and sometimes see the neighbours which is worth taking into consideration if that might bother you. We thought it was all part of the experience! I'd definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend. |

| Love the Trastevere neighborhood! | Jan 2011 |
The accommodations in the Dorotea were acceptable. The best part about the apartment was it's location in the Trastevere neighborhood of Rome. It was close enough to walk to most places, but the neighborhood had it's own vibrancy that didn't have anything to do with the tourist sites. There was an internet/coffee/food cafe right under the apartment which was extremely handy. I would most definitely recommend Italy Perfect to a friend. |

| Great neighborhood | Oct 2010 |
We loved our apartment--especially the terrace and our neighborhood. No problems except the bar/cafe downstairs was noisy some nights. Great location though and would stay there again without hesitation--able to walk to everything. We loved the restuarant "Trattoria da Lucia" for an authentic Rome meal. Nice to have our greeter meet us when we arrived. All the information on the packets by Italy perfect was very helpfu. |

Oct 2010 |
The Dorotea apartment is cute, clean, and safe. Everything was in fine working condition and as advertised. I really thought that we would be dining on the patio more but the restaurants around Trastavere made me believe that my cooking would not come close to theirs. We did enjoy many glasses of wine out there. I really enjoyed being in a residential neighborhood in the heart of one of the most intersting areas of the city. The cafe downstairs was a delight as were the stores and restaurants. The bed consists of two twins set side-by-side and looks like a perfectly good double bed until you try to sleep in the middle of it. We had to get up many times to push the two back together. I wonder if they can be secured together somehow- the way it was took some getting used to. The one other drawback was that the neighbor's windows look directly into the patio area so there really was no privacy out there. The apartment is cute and comfortable, the neighborhood is fantastic, the night life was fun, and the food was unbelievable. We appreciated the local cell phone for securing taxis and airport transportation. WiFi in the living room enabled us to use Skype to call the states for nearly free. There is a library of tour and guidebooks that was helpful. Gabriella was very nice and helpful but she had her cell phone off the morning we arrived causing some panic on our part when we were unable to contact her of get into the apartment. Italy Perfect was professional and helpful. |

We had a great stay at the apartment. Everything was well. It's
location in Rome is perfect for many walking day trips. My wife was bothered by the music from the cafe, earplugs area must. All in all, we would recommend it for a great Rome location and a walking starting point. Thanks again for your detailed information, very complete and useful.

| The Dorotea is attractive and convenient | Aug 2009 |
Italy Perfect has the highest standards in their apartment rentals. The Dorotea is attractive and convenient. The courtyard is a big plus in good weather. The owner is delightful! Late night music from the bar downstairs is occasionally heard but was not a big issue for us in our overall love of this apartment. [Repeat guest who comes every year. Lisa, Italy Perfect] |

| Center of the universe..... | Jun 2009 |
If there was a spot in New York where Soho, Tribeca and the Village converged, its Roman equivalent would be the location of the Dorotea. I recently came back from a month staying there, and must ask anyone reading this to consider it a rave. The owner couldn't have been more reliable and accommodating, the apartment was spotless and charming, and I just can't think of a single complaint. Italy Perfect was on top of everything, completely reliable, responsive... what more can I say? |

| Great apartment! | Apr 2009 |
We loved our stay in the Dorotea apartment! The apartment was very clean, bright and sunny, spacious, and conveniently located in a great neighborhood. We loved sitting out on the private terrace! Since there are so many restaurants and caffes nearby (a real plus, as there are some very good ones!), we were concerned that the apartment might be noisy at night, but it was not. The only drawback to this apartment is that there is no clothes washer, but for us that was minor and Italy Perfect had included laundromat recommendations in the information that came with the apartment so that solved the problem. I also have to add that Italy Perfect lives up to its name -- perfect! They provide excellent customer service and the apartment more than lived up to our expectations. I have had previous experience with other apartment rental agencies and Italy Perfect is by far the best: professional, friendly, and helpful. I will definitely rent from them again (If we return to Rome, I'd love to rent Dorotea again.) and I have already recommended them to friends. |

| The apartment was ideal for us | Mar 2009 |
My wife and I had a wonderful time in Rome. The apartment was ideal for us. It was centrally located, making it accessible to all the sites, restaurants and shops. We walked everywhere, had fun and truly enjoyed our experience there. The greeter was nice, showed us the ropes and made us feel welcome. The apartment was clean and comforting after a long day of siteseeing, shopping and enjoying the Italian cuisine and drink. We scheduled a driver to take us to the airport and he was timely, courteous and knew where to go. The welcome basket was a great touch. |

| Modern little apartment in an ancient city | Mar 2009 |
This tidy, little apartment in an old building was perfect for us. Its location near the pedestrian bridge made it easy to get around this ancient city by foot. Its not quite so convenient if you want to get a taxi or get on a bus. There are lots of restaurants in the neighbourhood, including the cafe downstairs in the same building. There is even a laundry around the corner. The owner was helpful in getting us oriented (although controlling the hot water always remained a mystery) and helped with arranging our trip to the airport. |

| The greeter was nice and helpful | Nov 2008 |
Overall we were very satisfied with accommodation and the greater was very nice and helpful. We loved the patio most and enjoyed eating our meals out there. The only drawback we found was the neighbours being too close and when they were home we could hear them talk. We loved the neighbourhood and the location, we could walk to almost all the monuments and landmarks. It was just great. Almost all cafes and restaurants around the apartment were good and are to be recommended. Also there was a green grocer just around the corner where you could also pick up some bread. |

| We loved your bright little hideaway | May 2008 |
Intrigued by the photo of the terrace, we booked eight nights at the Dorotea apartment in Trastevere. It was exactly where we wanted to be- at the foot of the Gianicolo hill, moments from the Botanical Garden and the Farnesina, 7 minutes walk over the foot bridge to Campo dei Fiori and Piazza Navona. The three of us were delighted with the accomodations- well designed and appointed. The terrace was a big plus for outdoor dining and entertaining. There was a specialty produce store next to the bar downstairs (not bothersome except for one Saturday night), across the river was a small supermarket, and down the street a good bakery- which made cooking in the compact kitchen convenient and fun. We recommend the apartment highly, ideal for two, but worked well for the three of us. We loved your bright little hideaway. |

| The terrace space was a great added bonus | Mar 2008 |
We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. It was a great size for two people and the terrace space was a great added bonus. The apartment is really in a perfect location since it is walking distance from most of the major destinations in Rome. Plus the neighborhood was truly adorable. Our greeter was very friendly and nice and the welcome basket, maps and guidebooks were a great additional touch. I've already recommended ItalyPerfect to several friends. |

| Gabriella was a gracious hostess | Feb 2008 |
I'm really glad we heard about ItalyPerfect. I really enjoyed having an apartment rather than a hotel room for our stay in Roma. It was a wonderful trip and a pleasant stay. I thought the location of Dorotea was great. I loved being in the Trastevere and all the little shops, restaurants and more that are over there. It had much less of a touristy feel that being near the Spanish Steps or Pantheon would have been. It gave us a better sense of actually living in a Rome neighborhood. The apartment was also a nice size, bigger than a hotel room would have been and the extra of having the kitchen and terrace to boot. Gabriella was a gracious hostess. She took the time to walk us thru the mechanics of living in the apartment, showed us how to operate everything. She has even left a basket of welcoming goodies for us that helped ease us into the swing of things. Having the [loaner] Italian cell phone was a Godsend for being able to get hold of our son in Rome without exorbitant charges every time we called him. A plus of the apartment was that it was next to the good cafe where we could hang out and have coffee in the AM, a glass of wine in the PM, and check our email on the Internet. We got some noise in the late evening (up to 2am some nights) along with street noise when there were people standing outside and drinking. This was not a big deal as that's what comes along with being in that neighborhood and Gabriella had installed double pane glass. Overall, I'm glad we picked Dorotea. We would certainly use ItalyPerfect again and would recommend it to our friends. |
