Available year-round, these vacation apartments in Rome cater to a mixture of tourists and business people on extended trips. They are in a walled complex of five buildings that have some small lawns and a fountain. The ground floor apartments have little gardens and the upper floors, balconies. Two buildings house the vacation rentals and the rest have year-round residents.

Convenience, amenities, and comfort typify these vacation apartments in Rome, Italy. They have the conveniences of apartment living: room to spread out, ability to prepare your own meals, and air conditioning plus the conveniences of a hotel: a free breakfast buffet, daily towel service, and a reception desk to help you with reservations and directions. Also, short stays of three nights are possible.

Location

The Aureliana vacation apartments are in a walled complex of fairly modern apartment buildings built in the 1960's around the corner from St. Peters Basilica, and 200 yards from the Vatican City. Facing St Peter's basilica, you go through the left side colonnade into a large piazza with stores and busses that can take you in any direction, then up the hill about two blocks along the ancient Via Aurelia.

You are half a mile from Trastevere, a typical, lively quarter with loads of charm, great restaurants, and entertaining street life. Also nearby is Cola di Rienzo, a favorite shopping street and one the Romans patronize. Cola di Rienzo is also a good area to sit in a café and watch the Italians strutting their "bella figura" while you enjoy your gelato. These apartments are right next to St. Peter's, its fabulous piazza, the neat little streets filled with stores with religious items. There is St Peter's basilica itself and you can easily get in line early for the Vatican Museums (we suggest getting a guide which will allow you to bypass the line and will take you right to the most interesting things, including the Sistine chapel).

On the Via Aurelia, near these apartments, you will find two food shops, both of which have a selection of take-out items for a fast meals, plus a small grocery store.

Exterior

A reception desk is open daytime to help you with any arrangements you want and the breakfast room has a stunning view of St Peter's dome. A lounge next to the reception is a place to meet and have a drink.

Parking is available and this is on the airport side of the city, so trips to Leonardo da Vinci and Ciampino airports are faster and easier than from locations deeper into the city.

A commuter train passes behind the complex occasionally so light sleepers take note. We have stayed in these apartments many times; our solid sleepers were not bothered but our lightest sleeper heard it in the early morning when the first commuter train passes by. On the other hand, this is a city and this is just another aspect of typical city noise.

Interior

The apartments have air conditioning, important in the summer, central heat, too, of course. They have all the amenities: good TV reception, stereo, VCR, nice towels changed daily (unusual for weekly rentals), telephone, breakfast, kitchenette. They are modern, comfortable and clean. The sofa beds are comfortable.

There are four different sized apartments:

1. The one bedroom, one bath apartments can actually accommodate five (friendly) people when the sofa and folding bed are opened up for sleeping. The air conditioning is in the bedrooms.

There are two different styles for the one bedroom; one is just under 800 square feet and the other just over.
The kitchen and dining areas are separate which is nice when you have a larger party. The kitchen has all the dinnerware, a dishwasher, four burner stove top and microwave that is perfect for warming up take out.

2. The two bedroom, one bath, medium sized apartments at the Aureliana are perfect for a family or two couples. The size is a comfortable 970 square feet.

The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, the twin bedroom has a convertible bed with the second twin being pulled out from under what is otherwise a day bed. The sofa bed will sleep one and another bed can be brought in for a sixth person. The air conditioning is in the bedrooms.
Although there is a single bathroom, the sink area is separate permitting several people to get ready at the same time.

3. The large two bedroom, one bath apartments at the Aureliana are spacious retreats from the bustle of Rome. The size is 1130 square feet.

The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, the second bedroom has twin beds that can be joined to form a queen. The sofa bed will sleep two and another bed can be brought in for a seventh person. The air conditioning is in the bedrooms.
Although there is a single bathroom, the sink area is separate permitting several people to get ready at the same time.

4. The deluxe two bedroom, two bath apartment (there is only one) at the Aureliana is is 1130 square feet in size.

The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, the second bedroom has twin beds that can be joined to form a queen. The sofa bed will sleep two and a hassock can be converted to single cot for a seventh person. The air conditioning is in both bedrooms.
Both bathrooms are well appointed, one with a Jacuzzi shower and the other with a Jacuzzi bath tub.

Reviews and Customer Testimonials for Italy Vacation Rental

Our Review
  • Comfortable and very clean. Decor is typical of an extended stay type suite-hotel.
  • Reception staff is friendly and helpful.
  • We love the view from the summer breakfast room.
  • The apartments are spacious for Rome and have modern amenities.
  • Furniture and accoutrements are tasteful but nothing special.
  • A/C only in the bedrooms.
  • What they lack in architectural interest and a behind-St. Peter's-location is offset by the fact that will take a 3-night stay. Most other properties have a 5 night or longer minimum booking period.

The website information was accurate Jun 2010

Thank you for recommending the Aurelia apartments. It met our needs very well. The website information was accurate so that we knew what to expect. The front desk staff was very helpful. The apartment was perfect for our short 3 night Rome stay and for seeing the Vatican and St. Peter's.

We had a wonderful time Apr 2010

Just wanted to thank-you for all your help with our trip to Rome. We had a wonderful time and the people at the Aureliana apts were absolutely wonderful and helpful whenever we needed it. Two of our party, a mother and daughter were stranded in Rome from the Saturday until Wed, and they really stepped up to the plate, letting her stay there, and doing everything they could to make it easier for her.  She says she couldn't have gone through it without their help, as she felt like she had a safe place to go whenever she returned from the airport, they even left a key with another tenant in case she needed a room again, which she did. We will certainly recommend both you and them to anyone we know who is thinking of a trip to Rome.

Sincerely   Judy

Staff at Aureliana were very polite Apr 2010

Stay in Rome was wonderful and staff at Aureliana were very polite and helpful. Fortunately we made it out of Europe and back to Sydney 4 days prior to the volcanic eruption.

We were treated like royalty Feb 2010

Just wanted to give you an update on our visits to your places in Rome and Florence.  Both were great!!!  The Aurelia upgraded us due to our anniversary and fact that they had the space.  Champagne was waiting at both places in recognition of our anniversary...you must have told them. The reception people were great and services including breakfast couldn't have been better.  We were treated like royalty and had every service that a hotel could have offered only limited to the 7:00 to 5:30 hours. Recommendations for restaurants, sites etc were right on target.  Best meal we ever had for our anniversary was arranged by the reception people at Quattro Mori.  Simply fantastic!
All in all we had a wonderful time at your places in the heart of both old towns and would highly recommend you to our friends and associates.
