The apartment is suffused with light from French doors in all the rooms.
When you enter the apartment, a small entry way with coat rack and bench opens onto a welcoming terrace.
Living room has a sofa and upholstered chair. A bookcase and desk at one end has a frosted window that lets in light but doesn't open. The living room is accessed from a hallway that runs from the entry to the bedroom and that has French doors onto the terrace. There are curtains that can close the living room off from the hallway.
The living room adjoins the eat-in kitchen.
The pleasant living room is accessed from a hallway that opens onto the terrace, seen reflected in the mirror.
Pompeo sleeps up to 4 guests when the trundle bed is pulled out from under the sofa and made up. Curtains separate the room from the hallway and a sliding door closes it from the kitchen. A closet provides storage for living room sleepers.
There is an armchair in the living room that can be placed under the television as seen here, good for when the sofa is set up as two single beds.
Full eat-in kitchen. Four burner stove top, dishwasher, microwave, Italian and drip coffee makers.
The kitchen opens onto the terrace.
Filled with light from both the high window and the terrace, the bedroom suite has a wall of closets, small desk, bureau and a private bathroom.
Three pretty bird prints above the bed reflect the bright colors. A handsome oil painting is above the bureau.
There are two bathrooms with showers. This is the bathroom that is ensuite to the bedroom. It has a step in shower with a showerhead that mounts high on the wall. There is also a washing machine.
Terrace view from the bedroom towards the entry.
Living and kitchen doors onto terrace.
A full awning can be extended across the terrace for privacy (neighbor windows do look down on the space) or to cool off in the summer.
The Pompeo apartment is inside the dark ochre building in this charming piazza. The apartment is interior, does not overlook the street.
See the curve in this building that adjoins the piazza where the Pompeo apartment is found? It reflects the curve of the Theater of Pompei, the largest arena in ancient Rome. You can see more of the curve of the ancient structure when you look at a map of the neighborhood where streets and locations still carry the name Teatro de Pompeo.
The apartment is entered through the door on the right, up a half a flight of steps to the apartment. No elevator.
Ancient picturesque building in the piazza.
Good neighborhood seafood restaurant. We liked tagliarini mare e monti (sea and mountains) with clams, shrimp, mussels and mushrooms.
Fresh handmade egg pasta. Yum.
The beautiful Piazza Navona is just a few minutes walk from the apartment.
