"We fell in love with the Amore apartment" |
| Terrace, Breathtaking Views |
Take in the splendor of Florence with vast views and an expansive terrace. We dubbed this apartment Amore because as soon as we saw it we simply fell in love with it. The apartment is tastefully and comfortably furnished. The heartstopping views and terraces are the centerpiece of this special apartment.
Florence's Oltrarno is prized for it many wonderful restaurants and fine Florentine craft workshops. The walk up to the apartment is about two blocks and can be made by walking up the street or via steps that rise from the river. A short uphill walk and you'll be well rewarded by the spectacular views when you reach the Amore apartment.
The building in which the Amore apartment is located was once a noble palazzo dating back to the 1400's and then it became a monastery. A marble plaque inside the building lobby commemorates its historic significance.
The building has about eight vacation rental apartments. The Amore apartment is located on the top floor, with elevator. A sofa bed in the living room can sleep one. It is flanked by two upholstered arm chairs. An antique bureau greets you as you step into the apartment. Antiques have been used thoughtfully throughout, just the right amount to give it a timeless feeling without the impression that you've stepped into a furniture museum. The large picture window in the living room floods the room with light. Black out rolling shades can be drawn if you desire. Enjoy whiling away the hours absorbing the marvelous views of historic Florence. A mirror over the sofa reflects light and views all the way out to the terrace which is just beyond the dining area.
The dining area seats four. There are handsome polished wood floors throughout the apartment. French doors by the dining table lead out to the terrace.
The main terrace is on two levels, paved in terracotta tiles. The lower level, accessed off the dining area has a table and four chairs. Views from this terrace faces towards the south, with wonderful views of Florence's Oltrarno area as well as the center of the city. The kitchen window has views out onto this terrace. A flight of stairs leads to the upper terrace which has two recliners for sunbathing, and a small table and chairs. This apartment has views, views and more views! Take in all 360 degrees of historic sites, from San Miniato to the Duomo to the hills of Tuscany. Watch the light as it moves across the buildings and enjoy living with fabulous views of Florence that few get to experience. These terraces will surely be the setting for many wonderful hours where you can enjoy meals, coffee or cocktails under sunny Florentine skies, certain to make for special memories of your Florence stay.
The kitchen is small but well equipped with microwave, 4 burner gas stove, refrigerator with separate freezer section, dishwasher. A nice feature in the kitchen is the little window overlooking the terrace with views of Florence.
The bedroom has a divisible "king", two single beds that can be made up separately or joined to form a bed that is 10 inches wider than a North American Queen and 6 inches narrower than a King. It is nicely appointed with an antique cornice detail and a painting over the bed that lends a romantic touch. Another surprise is the little terrace off the bedroom. This small terrace has nice views too and two lounge chairs.
The bathroom is accessed off the living room. It is up-to-date with a sink set into an attractive green marble countertop, bathtub with shower attachment, toilet and bidet.

| Easter in Florence | Apr 2013 |
We had planned a quick 3 days in Florence on our way to Paris in April and was lucky enough to find Italy Perfect. Lisa and Pat worked with us to secure the flat and offered great tips on travel in Italy. We arrived Rome from the states and took the high speed rail up to Florence. We did our homework and no problems negotiating our way from the FCO airport to the train station. We called ahead and met our greater at the flat and was given a tour and local info for markets. Make sure you bring a copy of your passport to make the rental process go quickly... The views are terrific and the location near the Ponte Vecchio was perfect. Florence is easily the high point of our trip as everyone was friendly and the city is easily walkable. Highlights for us was the leather market and the Easter celebration at all the churches at once. The Flat is perfect for a couple ( but can sleep more),it has a large bed and two terraces to enjoy the view of the City. It is a decent size hill to walk up and the elevator is most welcomed but that's how you get such great views. There isn't a corner of the City that doesn't have some thing of interest and the food and wine? the best...and at a great price. Thanks Lisa and Pat, we'll be back Chris |

| Picture Perfect | Oct 2012 |
We had the good fortune to be able to stay in this amazing apartment. Without over exagerating, I think the view from the top balconey is possibly the best in Florence. The apartment was roomy and comfortable, although we spent most of our time up on the balconey anyway. The kitchen is adequate if you feel like cooking, although I'm not sure why you'd bother when you're only a few minutes walk from everything. Overall a great apartment in a great location - and with a view that will blow you away. |

| Amore | Jul 2012 |
Service and accommodations were great. Most stunning views we have ever experienced in Firenze. Tenants in apartment below Amore (students?) were terribly inconsiderate about elevator. Almost never closed doors properly so we often had to climb stairs and young women in particular were rude when asked to be more considerate. |

| We were delighted with our stay | Jun 2012 |
Regarding our stay in Florence, I must say that it was terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed the apartment and although the climb to get to it was pretty steep, we still would be happy to stay there again. The view from the terrace was incomparable and the accommodations were perfect for our needs. As far as recommendations for restaurants in the area (there are so many wonderful ones), but the couple that stand out are Golden View (right on the same side of the Arno as the apartment), and Paoli located near the Piazza della Signoria. We were delighted with our stay and would certainly recommend Italy Perfect to our friends – especially because we had a problem with dates that Italy Perfect resolved for us. Again, it was a pleasure dealing with you. |

| Amore for lovers | Nov 2011 |
If you love Florence so much you want to reach out and embrace it, this is the perfect apartment. The city is so close, the view so panoramic that you feel you can touch the Duomo. Sunsets and moon rises are spectacular. Yet while ever so close to the heart of Florence, Amore is incredibly quiet--tranquil, really. The various paths from the center are steep, especially when toting groceries from the nearby (and fabulous) Conad, with high quality take-out and produce. The terraces are ideal for candlelit dinners overlooking Florence. If you can tear yourself away, there are many great restaurants (try "J" on Borgo San Jacopo) and the hike up Costa San Giorgio leads past Galileo's house to the Boboli, the Belvedere and beyond to Arceti. You feel like you're walking back in time--but watch out for speeding cars! |

| Wonderful Stay in Amore Apartment | Jul 2011 |
We had a wonderful stay in the Amore apartment in Florence. The apartment was charming and had panoramic views of Florence, not only from inside the apartment, but also from the spacious terraces. We had incredible views of several of Florence's treasures -- the Duomo, the Uffizi galleries, San Lorenzo, as well as the Arno River. We especially loved seeing the Duomo all lit up at night -- stunning! The neighborhood could not have been more ideal. We were literally steps from the Ponte Vecchio, but once we ascended to the Amore apartment, all the hustle and bustle of the summer crowds disappeared and we had a quiet enclave set above the city. There were several nice trattoria just down the street, as well as a charming pasticceria, a great bookstore, and the gourmet grocery shop nearby was terrific. A couple of tips for future guests: We would highly recommend the "Florence card," which came out this spring. It is fifty euros and includes access not only to several key Florence sights, plus bus travel, but it also allows one to bypass long lines. On a number of occasions (at the Uffizi and the Accademia) we showed our cards and were ushered right in, past long lines -- no need to pre-register or wait for tickets! We would also highly recommend the train from the Milan Malpensa airport direct to the main train station in Florence. The train leaves from inside the airport and stops in Florence, so no need to get from the Milan airport to the Milan central train station. Finally, we would highly recommend Italy Perfect (and your sister websites for other European cities) to friends and have done so frequently). We have stayed in Paris and London and now Florence and Tuscany, and the apartments are always in great locations and very beautifully appointed, and all the information you send is SO helpful and a great comfort. Thank you once again for a wonderful trip and a memory of a lifetime!! |

| Amore review | Jul 2011 |
Overall, the Amore apartment was a great place to stay. The location is ideal, two minutes' walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The views are outstanding; the church bells seranade you every morning and evening. The only drawbacks to this apartment are a lack of comfortable seating inside--there is just one, small sofa--and a lack of shade on the terraces. Lounge chairs with a small canopy like we found in other places in Italy would be a welcome addition, along with at least one more comfy chair. Otherwise, we were very satisfied and enjoyed our stay. We would definitely use Italy Perfect again. Thank you! [Italy Perfect: These are valid points, just clarification here: The sofa is small; there are two small armchairs, too. There is a canopy on the bedroom balcony. There are lounge chairs on the terrace, butno canopy is possible. Unfortunately, the city of Florence has outlawed umbrellas and canopies, the only shade solutions possible for the top terrace. You can stand on this terrace and see that this is true, almost no umbrellas to be seen. The city also will not allow adding a full structure to the roof in order to add shade, a historical district restriction, much overlooked in past, they now are very careful and you can't slip anything past them in this very visible location. So, in the height of summer, enjoy the terrace morning and evening when the sun isn't directly overhead.] |

| Great View, Average Accomodations | Jun 2011 |
Had an enjoyable stay here in May 2011. View is truly incredible and location is very convenient to Flroence attractions, also very quiet. Bakery at bottom of the hill is outstanding. Accommodations did not match the excellence of location. Bedding was average at best, nothing to rave about; microwave was ineffective, if you're coming to cook meals there are probably better places; satellite channels are all Italian. [There is a new mattress in the bedroom. We will check the microwave and repair/replace as needed. There are English-language channels, you just have to set the receiver to Satellite reception. I'll check to make sure the instructions are still there.] Overall we had a good time. |

| Adored Amore | May 2011 |
For our 10th anniversary, Lisa suggested the Amore and we are so very happy she did! It is a beautiful apartment that reflects Florence back to you from every angle in every room. If you aren't gazing out a window, you're catching the reflection of that scene in a cleverly placed mirror - and that's before you ever head outside to one of the three terraces. We loved sitting with the windows open between the kitchen and the front terrace with views of the Duomo. While one of us cooked (with a view) the other could sit at the comfortable table on the terrace, planning the day while we chatted back and forth. This communication between the kitchen and the terrace was wonderful for preparing meals and still being together! For sunsets we preferred the top terrace with 360 degree views. We never even made it to Piazzale Michelangelo - the views from our terrace were wonderful and much more private! The bedroom terrace was very lovely for morning relaxation. The Amore is located across the Arno, but just up from Ponte Vecchio, so it is easily accessible to everything but just enough removed to provide a little escape from the crazy tourist scene. Birds greeted us in the morning and were still chirping away at sunset. Traffic and tourist noise was almost non-existent - a welcome respite from the bust city center! For future visits, I don't think we would be happy staying anywhere else but the Amore Apartment - it was perfect for us and we wondered where else we could find such views with so much privacy and such easy access to everything? Amore has all that 2 people need for a week or two stay: an elevator (helpful for carrying up groceries and after the climb up the hill to the apartment), a well equipped but quite small kitchen, washing machine (dryer is in the ba Having now stayed twice with Italy Perfect, we're confident that part of what makes this company so exceptional is the quality of the people they employ in each city to handle the property and act as greeters. Both our greeters were outstanding! Thank you Italy Perfect and Christina - the Amore exceeded all our expectations. |

| Our Stay at Amore in Florence | Apr 2011 |
We enjoyed our stay and were thoroughly happy with Amore. The place was beautiful and very clean. Our daughter, who was studying there, recommended we stay on the other side of the Arno. This was a very good suggestion as it was much quieter and yet it was only a 15 minute walk to the Duomo and a 5 minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. Her friends came over and commented on how nice it was to hear the birds sing. We recommend the restuarants Carmello and Trattoria 4 Leoni. |

| We fell in love with the Amore apartment | Jan 2011 |
The Amore apartment was so nice for our Florence stay. What wonderful views. We were there in November and had several surprisingly mild days interspersed with some rain so we able to enjoy the terrace part of the time. The Oltrarno location is excellent, well worth the walk up the block to reach the apartment where you are rewarded with quiet streets and amazing views. Pat at Italy Perfect could not have been more helpful. Appreciated all the great restaurant recommendations too. And new little supermarket nearby on Via dei Bardi had a great array of good quality foods. We would loved the Amore apartment and it's amazing views and hope to stay here again next year. |

| Those views made my trip | Dec 2010 |
We spent 8 wonderful days at the Amore apartment. It was just perfect for us. They views are not-to-be-believed. Although the weather was chilly we did have a few afternoons to sit up on the terrace and gaze out upon Florence. Every morning we'd bundle up and step out on the terrace with a hot cup of coffee and just take in the splendor. We would most certainly recommend this as a well located, comfortable and special apartment for a Florence stay. Pat at Italy Perfect was so helpful and informative too. |

| Hope to return | Oct 2010 |
The photos do not lie, this is a beautiful suite in a carefully restored ancient building with stunning views in all directions. Despite some rain during our late September stay, we enjoyed watching the city in all kinds of light. The location is wonderful: quiet and private but still central. The uphill walk and stairs (there is an elevator) are a good antidote to pasta! |

| Fairytale evenings on the roof deck :^) | Jul 2010 |
This apartment is a rare opportunity. The location is superb, convenient, quiet and sensational! The large living/dining room is great for being together, yet the patio , balconey and roof terace offer private outside areas. We liked cooking our evening meal at "home" and dining on the patio outside the living room and kitchen. The pass thru from the kitchen was fun and the umbrella was essential at dinner time as the sun was sneaking around to the west. Teen agers can text/compute out on the bedroom balconey. The really big show was at sunset: On the Roof terrace! It was a little too hot in July to go up there in daytime, but evenings were wow! a 360 degree view and a gentle breeze after sunset with all of Florence and her churches/monuments lighted just for us, we were in heaven. Altho the buildings are old, Air conditioning, small but fully equipped kitchen, elevator and wifi made us totally comfortable. Grocery store at the bottom of the stairs, and restaurants everywhere are great. |

| Dream Come True | Jun 2010 |
I have dreamed of staying in Florence for many years and we chose this apartment because we wanted to enjoy the city to the utmost. Yes, it is not a budget apartment, but this was a special trip for us and it was still less than comparable hotels I shopped. The Amore apartment and Florence fulfilled our dreams. The city is infinite, so much to enjoy, a feast for the senses. Then, every morning and evening we would choose one of the three terraces where to enjoy our breakfast, cocktails, dinner... The views of Florence change through the day and weather, all beautiful and evocative. The apartment is totally equipped, perfectly comfortable. There is plenty of room for a couple. Our greeter was friendly and helpful. Italy Perfect was, well, "perfect." |
