Gleaming white marble on the floors
and French doors that lead to the terrace make this living room
special. Queen sofabed.
The narrow terrace wraps the living
room and is a pleasant retreat from the busy streets of historic
Rome.
Two sets of French doors in the living
room admit lots of light. The second bedroom is just beyond.
Looking to the right from the terrace
you can see the high banks of the Tiber River & the Ponte
Margherita bridge.
Looking to the other direction from
the terrace are handsome buildings of the Flaminio neighborhood
& the tree-lined street below.
Doors to terrace on the right. Antique
dining table.
Antique desk and dining table in the
spacious living room.
A warm welcome awaits you when you
step through the front door of the Flaminio apartment.
The kitchen has a small table for two
and a window that opens onto the interior of the building.
Another view of the kitchen table.
The kitchen has an American style
coffee maker, large refrigerator and dishwasher.
The master bedroom has ample closet
space and queen bed.
A bonus in the master bedroom is the
small second terrace.
The master bathroom is large, with
marble tiles, toilet, bidet, sink and bathtub with shower.
The master bathroom gets lots of light
from the large windows next to the sink.
From the twin beds in the second
bedroom you face the antique armoire and the window that opens to
the living room terrace.
The second bathroom has an enclosed
shower, sink and toilet.
Dramatic Piazza del Popolo is watched
over by obelisk and "twin" churches flanking top of Via del Corso.
Left street leads to Spanish Steps.
Two blocks away is the Flaminio street
car line & a handy little grocery store.
Two-minute walk (we timed it!) from
apartment are sweeping arches of Porta Flaminia built around
1562.
Just a few blocks away is the small
neighborhood open-air market for produce.
Inspecting winter fruits while the
kind signora chooses perfectly ripe fruits for each customer.
Butcher stall at the open air market
is convenient.
Tiny corner stall in the Mercato
Rionale for breakfast & lunch essentials. The owner is friendly
and helpful.
To left through Porta del Popolo
archway is the Santa Maria del Popolo church with Pinturicchio
frescos, Caravaggio paintings.
The wide open Piazza del Popolo was
thankfuly liberated from traffic snarls when Rome resticted through
traffic in the city center.
The Pincio Gardens rise up behind the
Piazza del Popolo. Gracious umbrella pines are a scenic aspect of
Rome.
The famous Egyptian obelisk in Piazza
del Popolo was under restoration so was shrouded in scaffolding and
a clever photo likeness.
Restoration works throughout Rome
provide billboard-style advertising opportunites which fall into
the "anything for a price" category.
Just one block away is a very handy
small supermarket, a bank with an ATM machine and a deli that is
open for lunch.
