A big and comfortable apartment right in the heart of Rome

Location

The building fronts on Lungardo de' Cenci and is steps from Via Portico di Ottavia, the heart of the "Ghetto" the historic Jewish district. Campo de' Fiori is also nearby, the largest open air market in the center of Rome. Piazza Navona is a short walk, too. Largo Arenula and Piazzale Torre Argentina are around the corner. This area has great transportation with a trolley line that leads to Trastevere and busses to the rest of the city.

Rome lovers who return year after year always look for apartments in this prized Piazza Navona/Campo dei Fiori area where they are transported to an old world city with its winding streets lined with buildings that date from the 1400s - 1800s.

Exterior

This fine old building can be entered both from the Tiber side as well as from a small street that runs parallel to the Tiber. The entire apartment opens onto the small street. This shelters the apartment from the sounds of traffic on the river side.

Enter the building through a spacious courtyard.

Interior

A large foyer leads to a comfortable and well-decorated living room, a separate dining room and a large and completely equipped kitchen.

The dining room, living room and master bedroom overlook a small side street that runs parallel to the Tiber river.

You may feel like cooking the the very large and well-equipped kitchen where you will also find the washing machine.

There are three bedrooms. One has a queen sized bed and en suite bath with shower over tub. A large walk-in closet has a rolling clothes rack and some shelves.

Second and third bedrooms share a hallway that leads from the kitchen. These rooms overlook the internal courtyard. There is a single closet shared by the two bedrooms that is located in the hall.

The third bedroom has two twin beds. The room is quite small, sleeping space only.

The second bathroom is off the main hallway. It has a cabinet-style shower as well as the usual fixtures.

The two larger bedrooms each have a portable air conditioner.

To sleep up to 8 people, there are two hassock-beds that unfold to form cots, suitable for children.

Wonderful Apartment Mar 2012

My husband and I, along with our adult children and spouses, spent five nights in the Lora apartment. We were visting my sister who lives in Trastevere and the location was excellent - walking distance to everything! The apartment exceeded our expectations. It is spacious and nicely decorated and has a large kitchen perfect for cooking your own meals. Even with six adults staying in the apartment, there was plenty of room for everyone. Having a grocery store directly across the street was also convenient. If you are traveling with a family or large group, this is the place to stay. It would be nice to be able to have more than two sets of keys, but I understand that it is the condominium policy of not issuing more than two sets. I would definitely stay here again

Location, location, location Mar 2012

My family of five (ages from 16 to 80) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lora.

The apartment is spacious and clean, and we kept raving about the location. There is a small store right across the street, Rome's outdoor fruit market is less than 10 minutes walk, the Jewish bakery is 5 minutes and the whole Jewish Quarter is perfect for lazy afternoon strolls. We walked several times to the Forum (about 15 minutes away, if you shortcut through the Jewish neighborhood) and across the river.

Daniela was also extremely helpful, as was her introductory tour. She pointed out local restaurants, answered questions about how to get around, and obviously wanted us to enjoy our stay. Which we definitely did!

A very relaxing vacation, in a lovely apartment and charming historic neighborhood.

lora apt. Nov 2011

We had high expectations from Lora, given the photographs and the considerable rent -- and those expectations were exceeded.

The apartment is spacious, very comfortably furnished, and full of light. The kitchen is modern with everything you could want, the ceilings are high, the bathrooms large.

And the location -- we had no idea how terrific that would be. One block from the Tiber, easy walking everywhere in the historic city, yet just far enough from the hordes of tourists. The street is quiet at night -- a real plus. We were there during a heat wave and the air conditioners and fans worked well (although energy consumption is expensive as we found out when we checked out). Daniela, who greeted us and checked in our our stay while we were there couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Bottom line -- when we return to Rome we will want to stay here, and we would recommend Lora highly to any friends who want to go!

Wonderful Stay in Rome Jul 2011

We were very happy with the space at the apartment. We were 6 people and it was nice to spread out a little and cook for ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a little grocery store just outside our door. This made it convenient to stock our pantry. We also loved the open market nearby which allowed us to have fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. The proximity to transit was a real plus as well, although almost everything was within walking distance - it was marvelous to be in the centre of it all. Daniela, our greeter was wonderful, showing us through the apartment and added a quick tour of the neighbourhood. I have already recommended Lora and Italy Perfect to our friends.

Lora Apartment in Rome Jun 2011

It is a great apartment in a great location. Very comfortable for a family with three young adults! So much to see and do all within walking distance, and most of the restaurants are just as likely to have locals as tourists. As for Italy Perfect, they made it all so easy.

The Lora apartment was an excellent choice for us. Apr 2011

The Lora apartment was an excellent choice for us in a number of ways. The location is right in the center of most attractions, with most being within easy walking distance. The facility itself was a great match for us. There was plenty of room for we two grandparents and our four teenage grandchildren. The apartment was well furnished and supplied. Arrival and departure arrangements worked perfectly. The folks at Italy Perfect were wonderful to work with.

The apartment was very clean and neat. Apr 2011

The overall accomodations of the Lora apartment were just as described. The apartment was very clean and neat. I would recommend replacement of the mattress in the master bedroom. The apartment had great access to all of the major sites. We were a walking family of 4 adults and hardly took a cab during our stay. The Jewish Ghetto has a great bakery and access to the grocery store across the street made breakfasts easy. Our greeter, Danielle, met us directly and gave us a good working knowledge of the apartment and a great tour of the surrounding area. I would also recommend Stephano to pick up and drop off at the airport. He was great and timely. I was very happy working with Italy Perfect. They know their properties, are accurate in their descriptions and are easy to work with on site selection.

Perfect in Every Way Mar 2011

The Lora apartment was an excellent choice for our family of five--close to everything but without any serious hill climbing. Four of us are slightly disabled but still walking--balance and pain problems. The walks to the Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Coliseum were all within our range. Best of all, the Lora neighborhood near the Jewish Ghetto brought real Rome to our doorstep. We ate dinners outdoors at the many fine restaurants nearby and strolled in the late afternoon and evenings throughout the most pleasant, non-touristy streets and plazas. For groceries we had a Coop Market right across the street with fresh meats, vegetables, breads and pastas--wine and beer of course, too. The Lora interior was perfectly suited to our needs. The spacious kitchen, living and dining rooms gave us plenty of space to relax. The bedrooms gave us a place for quiet away from the center of the apartment. The kitchen held everything we needed to prepare wonderful breakfasts and one or two dinners when we weren't out on the town. The furnishings were comfortable and the artwork accented the decor perfectly. The Lora felt like we had stopped in at someone's beloved home for a week. Daniela, our greeter, made us feel right at home immediately, and as others had experienced, gave us a grand tour of the neighborhood after our introduction to the apartment. We called her with questions from time to time and she always shared her time with us generously. She made an early trip into Rome on the day of our departure so we could get to our train to Florence on time. She was a great help to our group of novice travelers. Every restaurant we went to on her recommendation was truly a great Italian dining experience. My wife and I will travel to Rome again soon--without the kids (adult kids!)--and spend at least two weeks this time. We'll let you know when we're ready for another wonderful apartment through Italy Perfect. Thanks so much for making this week in Rome so memorable.

Accommodations were great Nov 2010

The apartment was actually bigger than we had perceived through the pictures and video.  We had my mom (needing a wheelchair), my two twenty something sons, my daughter (attending college in Trastevere), my husband and myself.  The lift facilitated my mom's needs with no problem.  Daniella (our greeter) made sure everything was working properly and gave us a great introduction to Roma.  We have commented that the apartment made our Roma experience something that we shall always remember.

We loved the location of the apartment.  We were in the middle of everywhere we wanted to go - either by walking or the very convenient bus depots.   We did not feel like we were in a tourist trap neighborhood.

Our suggestion would be to eat in Trastavere.  It is a quick walk across the bridge and the food was delicious and a little cheaper than the Roma piazzas (you have to eat there too).  The market at Campo was close and fun!  Also, we enjoyed the evening stroll from the Spanish steps.  We strolled on a Sunday.

Our one suggestion for improvement would be to make sure the apartment availability on the website is  easier to access (we booked through VRBO). [It is on the Dates-Rates tab of the Italy Pefect page and on the calendar on the VRBO listing.]

Nov 2010

We were two couples, one single man ending our tour of Italy in Rome for a week. The Lora Apartment more than fulfilled our needs. Danielle meeting us to help us understand the appliances, etc was so helpful. The living room was so spacious for all of us to meet and relax. Right outside the door was a supermarket, shopping, dining and a wonderful latte shop where we would go if we didn't feel like making our own coffee. The kitchen was huge and well appointed. Location in the Jewish Ghetto enabled us to walk all over the city and across the river to the Vatican and Trastevere. Absolutely cannot say anything negative about this place. Pleasing five people is not an easy task but we all loved this apartment. Thank you, thank you for making it so easy to rent through Italy Perfect! We hope to be back visiting in this same location.

Comfortable and Central Flat Nov 2010

We were very comfortable and happy in this spacious flat, which was a well-equipped,and pleasingly clean home-from-home. Wonderful central location; although the downside to that is that the noise of traffic and trams, sirens and car horns ( particularly for those in the master bedroom - much less so for the other two bedrooms) could be a problem for those visitors who are used to living somewhere quieter. Our 'greeter',Danielle, was a delight, and full of helpful tips on where to eat etc.The service from Italy Perfect was indeed perfect. Many thanks.

Rome Lora apartment Jul 2010

This was great accomodation for a family of 7; comfortable, roomy and quiet. The airconditioning in the 2 main bedrooms worked well too. On our arrival our greeter went out of her way to show us not only the apartment but also the local area. The position was great as we could walk everywhere. It's worth wandering your way around the local streets of this Ghetto area as they are very interesting and not touristy. Having a grocery store just downstairs that is open every day was convenient. Nearby via Giubbonari was good for clothes shopping at a reasonable price. We loved the friendly Osteria "La Quercia" in Piazza della Quercia. Local pasticcerias, gelati shops and a great cafe for paninis kept our tribe happy. We loved our stay here in Rome.

Lora was a perfectly situated apartment for our needs. Jul 2010

Lora was a perfectly situated apartment for our needs. It was close to transportation, easy walking distance to all sites, and surrounded by great restuarants within a 15 to 20 minute walk. Our greeter was prompt, the apartment was set up for us, and was a wonderful space for two couples to enjoy. I can't wait to return!

Excellent stay in Rome Jul 2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rome, in addition to all the sights, we really enjoyed the apartment. The location is tops, the neighborhood is very interesting and pleasant. It is well supplied with restaurants, shops and a grocery store right across the street. The kitchen in the apartment has recently been redone and is very well equipped. The apartment is nicely decorated and has all the ameneties. The big and unexpected surprise was the greeter ,Daniela. After showing us the ropes in the apartment, she walked us around the block to introduce us to the neighborhood. She pointed out the bakeries and several restaurants, and gave us a brief tour of the Roman Ghetto area. She was a real dynamo and so very charming and pleasant. I have rented apartments all over Europe and I have never had such an introduction to an apartment. What a winner.

More than perfect! Jun 2010

Lora was perfect! We brought our 2 young children and 3 grandparents to Rome with us. The apartment was clean, open and airy and had more than enough space for everyone to be comfortable...and the location was amazing. First, we loved that a grocery store was across the street. We walked to Campo di Fiori and the Jewish bakery daily for fresh fruit/veggies and breakfast items. Delicious! We had all the needed items to cook great meals and eat at home. Second, Lora is so centrally located, we walked to EVERY tourist location with ease. Once we learned the bus system, we found our location perfect for that too! Thank you Italy Perfect for all the information you provided coming to Rome. Our greeter, Daniella, was very informative and even walked us around the neighborhood. We also used Stefano, the driver recommended, and he was great! We did not have any problems with the Lora and the pictures online are true to the apartment. Without question, we would use Italy Perfect again!

Lora Perfect Jan 2010

The apartment was a perfect place for our family of 7 and an even more perfect place to celebrate Christmas.

Daniela our greeter was awesome. She took considerable time showing us how the apartment works, gave us a lengthy tour of the neighborhood and most considerately, she brought some Christmas decorations into the apartment to help us feel more like Christmas. She also left us a bottle of wine and pasta. Both of which we used to celebrate Christmas.

The Living room was a great place to wake up to a visit from Babbo Natale. The Dining room made a great place to enjoy breakfast of French Toast made from Panettone. It also made a great place for a Turkey and Pasta Christmas Feast.

The only problem was that Caesar (Bust of Caesar in the Foyer) would frighten an un-expecting resident who was wondering the apartment in the dark.

The location of the apartment was excellent. Most everything was reachable by foot. The Vatican was a healthy walk but enjoyable. Follow the Tiber and you are there. Campo de' Fiori is just a ten minute walk with a wonderful market each morning and many great eating establishments. Lora is positioned in the center of the Jewish Ghetto with many Jewish options. A grocery store is out the back door of Lora so shopping is made easy.

The booking packet that Italy Perfect provided was outstanding. It was full of good tips on eating, shopping, and attractions. It had great directions and important tips for the traveler. They thought of everything we forgot to think about.

We really enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the apartment.

A Roman Holiday Jan 2010

Our family rented the Lora after Christmas and into the New Year. What a great choice! The apartment was very clean and spacious with two bathrooms and three bedrooms. It had all the modern amenities including a nice kitchen, high speed internet and even a built in wash machine. Perhaps the best feature of the Lora is its location. Centrally located, it was within walking distance of everything - we didn't need to take a taxi at all. Italy Perfect had great instructions and directions to the Lora so the move in was really easy and Daniella (the greeter) was excellent! We definitely recommend this place - we had a great time. Buon viaggio!!

The apartment itself is spacious and bright May 2009

The Lora apartment has a wonderful location for 3 different criteria.  The location is good for walking to all of the ancient Roman sites which we did daily.  The apartment is also located on some very key bus routes that offered exceptional service to the Vatican, Vatican Museums, and other sites that were further away than our elder family member wanted to walk.  The amenities that were found amazingly close to the apartment (grocery store, bus tickets, bakery, gelato store, market) were greatly appreciated.

The apartment itself is spacious and bright.  As a family of 6, there was lots of room for everyone to sit together or to be apart (depending on what we wanted to do at the time).  The entire apartment building is charming and maintained well.

However, the apartment had some drawbacks that we feel are correctable with a little bit of effort.

The showerheads were terrible.  They sprayed water everywhere, making the stream of water less effective for showering and making a huge mess in the bathroom.  The wet floors were slippery and treacherous after a shower. [Showerheads have been replaced.]

An internet connection would have been greatly appreciated.  There were affordable internet cafés in the area, but their hours were unpredictable and it was not something we were willing to let our children visit on their own.

Anyone staying at the apartment should realize that Arenula is a busy, noisy street at all times of the day and more so on weekend evenings. A police station is located close by. The street noise does intrude into the apartment, but should be expected since this is a large, busy city.

I hope this is helpful.  We did enjoy our stay in the apartment and I have tried to point out those things that would have improved our time in the apartment during our visit.
