"So close to the Coliseum you can almost touch it!" |
| Timeless View - Classic Luxury |
Lounge on the expansive terrace while the icon of Rome, the Coliseum, changes with time of day, season and weather. The Coliseum views are stunning.
Perched on the Colle Oppio, one of the Seven Hills of Rome, this apartment overlooks the Roman Coliseum, as close as it is possible to live. In less than five minutes, you can walk to famous St. Peter in Chains home of Michelangelo's Moses, Santa Maria Maggiore, Nero's Golden House (Domus Aurea), the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, the Coliseum and the charming village of Monti within in the city.
In the heart of the Monti district, you'll discover a wonderful part of Rome. It isn't as famous as other areas, yet is right in the center of the Eternal City with many of the famous sights within walking distance. It is characteristically Roman, one of the most ancient neighborhoods in the city. History echoes with views of the Coliseum, the Roman Forum just a few minutes by foot. 2000 years ago this was the subura, the working class area of ancient Rome where Julius Cesar grew up. A number of the most important churches in Rome are nearby: St. John Lateran, St. Peter in Chains, St. Mary Major. This is also the neighborhood where the secrets of nuclear physics were first discovered by theRagazzi of Via Panisperna. The "ragazzi" researched at one of the faculties of Sapienza - the University of Rome founded in 1303. Traditionally a neighborhood of craftsmen, you will find old crafts and modern arts and crafts side by side. Monti has gentrified over the last decade so there is a wealth of restaurants, beautiful shops with fine items of all kinds. Some guests find this more fun to explore than jostling with the crowds around the Spanish Steps.
The New York Times did a nice little article on Monti in 2006, follow the link to read it: In Rome, a Place for Romans. And, again in 2011 In Rome, Monti Is a Quiet Treasure.
Monti is one of the neighborhoods in which Woody Allen's To Rome with Love was filmed.
The neighborhood has become very desirable to Romans because it experiences less tourist traffic than other areas. Guests enjoy living like Romans in the heart of the Eternal City.
The building delights in its spectacular location, inviting in light and reveling in the views available in many directions. Built in the 1960s and has a cool, marble lobby and modern elevator. The residents include distinguished actors, politicians and industrialists. A doorman during business hours provides security and will gladly help you as he can with directions; he speaks some English.
The sweep of the living room is enhance by the long windows onto the terrace and the long white sofas. Cool and clean, it is filled with museum-quality art. Beautiful antique side pieces balance the modern layout and furnishings.
The glory of Magnifico is the long terrace, about 200 square feet with a direct view of the Roman Coliseum and the Arch of Constantine. So close, you are practically inside! Lined with gardener-tended plants and flowers, there is room on the terrace for dining and lounging while you watch the light change on the view of a lifetime. An awning is in two parts and can shade you from the sun or the rain.
The living room has an L-shaped sofa backed by antiqued glass. One wing of the sofa overlooks the terrace and has a Coliseum view. A glass dining table for six adjoins the living room. Next to the living room is a tiny "den" for reading and watching TV. Fine Persian carpets are arrayed across the parquet floor.
The master suite has a moderate sized bedroom with ample closets and a French door onto the terrace bringing in light and the scents and colors of the garden on the terrace. The bed is queen-sized, mattress on strapped fr
The master bath is distinctively and exuberantly tiled in a checkered pattern of tan and brown. A contemporary basin-style sink is joined by the usual fixtures. There is a shower over tub with the typical hand-held shower head that can be placed into a receptacle on the wall for a standing shower.
Beyond the den is the kitchen in its pretty melanzana, eggplant-colored tiles. There is a large refrigerator with freezer, gas stove top and oven, microwave and electric coffee maker.
A kitchen balcony connects the kitchen with the small bedroom. There is a modern washing machine with drying racks out there. Few Italians have clothes dryers; you put your clothes on the drying racks to dry.
Between the kitchen and the tiny second bedroom is a very small half-bath bathroom with sink, toilet and bidet.
The second bedroom is fine for one person. It is small and simply furnished. Cabinets above the bed for storage, no closet. There is a flat-screen television in this room. This bedroom gets some traffic noise from below, light sleepers take note.

Breathtaking view. While taking photos, we found ourselves frequently going out onto the terrace to appreciate how the changing light affected the wonderful view of the Coliseum. We wonder if Monet would have been inspired as he was in his cycle of paintings of the Cathedral at Rouen.
| Lovely Apartment | May 2012 |
The apartment is large and tastefully furnished. The large terrace provides a spectacular view of the Coliseum. The kitchen and bath are modern. The kitchen was stocked with some basic breakfast items, which was a nice touch. The flat is in the Monti neighborhood which, though next to the highly touristy Coliseum and Forum, is a charming and interesting area. The one time we had a problem (tripping a circuit breaker), we easily reached the owner, who promptly told us how to locate and reset it. Most of the year, heat would not be an issue (there is air conditioning), but in the early spring, with the radiators turned off, we could have used a portable electric heater. Our only real disappointment was the cellphone-ba |

| Magnifico was perfect! | Dec 2011 |
We stayed at the Magnifico apartment for a week in Nov 2011. We found the apartment to be clean and bright, with an outstanding view of the Colisseum and Contantine's Arch. The location was great: close to both the subway and a taxi stand and within walking distance of just about everything. The area of Rome nearby, called the Monti, is full of little restaurants and shops. Pat Byrne of Italy Perfect was a terrific resource and as helpful as a person could possibly be. We will definitely try and stay in one of Italy Perfect's apartments the next time we visit! |

| "Location, Location, Location!" | Oct 2011 |
The smartest thing my sister and I did for the Rome leg of our first Italian foray was to lease this apartment near the Colosseum for a week. If you get lost in Rome, you can always find the Colosseum. And after walking for hours, immersing ourselves in all things gloriously Roman, it was lovely to have an oasis where air conditioning and a large quiet space and a killer view of the Colosseum and arch of Constantine (especially at night)welcomed us home. The deck is large and perfect for cocktail hour or morning coffee(we did need to clean it a bit ourselves upon arrival). We did not cook meals but it looked like if you were so inclined, everything rudimentary you would need was there in the small but efficient kitchen. (Tip: move the liquid cleansers from under the sink to the top of the washing machine outside to decrease the disinfectant odor). The main living area and master bedroom have great aC. The small second bedroom does not, and seems most appropriate for a child. The furnishings are exactly as described on the website and there is also much artwork to enjoy. The neighborhood is delightful, with a school across the street, many restaurants (bars) very close by (where you will want to go for wireless access - the apartment wireless did not work), great people- watching due to a bridge and small park that was a gathering spot for Italians and tourists alike. Even with all the activity right outside the door, the apartment is quiet and relaxing. We never heard neighbors. The building is very secure. We were assured by Paul, our greeter (very helpful with finding the grocery and with general directions)that the neighborhood was safe and indeed, we felt that way the entire time as well as anywhere we went in Rome. The "how to do Italy" information we received from Italy Perfect before arriving was invaluable and we referred to it often. Thanks to Italy Perfect for helping us select this perfect locale. What wonderful memories we have! |

| Magnifico condo in Rome | Oct 2011 |
Magnifico was wonderful -- perfectly and centrally located with a view of the Colosseum from the terrace. It's spacious, quiet, and the air conditioning was a welcome relief after hours walking in the September sun. The neighborhood is very safe, and we felt comfortable walking around at night. The nearby grocery store is well stocked, and there are many restaurants and boutiques within a few blocks. We loved working with Italy Perfect -- they were responsive, professional, and provided lots of helpful notes for our journey. We highly recommend them! |

We had a lovely 8 day stay at the Magnifico, long enough to feel like we lived there. The apartment is nicely appointed and be sure to buy some olives and crackers and have cocktails on the terrace as the sun sets over the Colloseum and the Forum, magical (we are architects)! The extra bath was great but the extra bedroom was small for our 18 year old son. It was situated in a convienent location so several days we came home after lunch then headed back out again at 4. After walking all day local restaurants were our favorite for dinner; Gli Angeletti has a lovely out door dining area and we had three very good meals there, but service can be very mixed, go at 7 or 9:30. RESTORANTE CLETO on Via del Cardello just a short block off the Via Cavour was a 5 minute walk from the apartment, popular with locals and best service, food and price...try it! |

| The Magnifico in Rome was in a great place. | Jul 2011 |
The Magnifico in Rome was in a great place. We really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood to the side of it. It was nice to go around in the area where the Italians lived and worked. The food was great and we shopped in the little stores on a side street for our groceries. The kids had Gellato from the shop across from the Coloseo almost every evening. It is a very nice neighborhood. |

| The location was incredible and the balcony view provided a great photo op in front of the Coliseum. | May 2011 |
We totally enjoyed our stay. The location was incredible and the balcony view provided a great photo op in front of the Coliseum. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Near the apartment is the "Rome by Segway" office and it is worth the expense to see Rome in this way. We recommend the apartment and Italy Perfect. |

| Great apartment in Rome | Jun 2010 |
We stayed at the Magnifico apartemnt, overlooking the Coliseum. The location was fabulous! The Metro station was a 2 minute walk from the apartment. There were several good restaurants and boutique shops within 5 minutes walking. The were three options for morning cafe within one minute from the front door. Compared to hotels in the neighborhood, the cost of the apartment was competitive. We were greeted by "Paul" the local rep for Italy Perfect. He filled us in one the local features and had a food basket well stocked for us, including wine. We enjoyed the Million dollar view from the balcony the most. Our favorite restaurant was a wood fired pizza restaurant about 6 minutes from the apartment as you walked towards the Spanish Steps area. I would definitely book another apartment through Italy Perfect. Lisa was a great help to us for our trip planning. |

| Loved the location and the views were great. | Apr 2010 |
Our stay in the apartment was great. Loved the location and the views were great. Fitted our needs to a tee. Will recommend staying here to anyone wanting to stay more than 5 days. Everything is close by. Local bus routes and metro station right there. Super elite grocery store nearby. Grand Palatino Hotel where we got the green line tours, and across the Colosso plaza were the hop on the bus tours were. Saved money cooking in too and $1500 on hotel costs. |

| Right in the heart of Rome with the fantastic views of the Colosseum and the city | Mar 2010 |
We found the Rome Magnifico apartment to be very comfortable. We felt as if we were right in the heart of Rome with the fantastic views of the Colosseum and the city. It was very quiet and had all the amenities we needed. The metro and taxi stand across the street made it very convenient to get wherever we needed. We thought the food and wine that was left for us was a wonderful touch! |

| Magnifico indeed | Jun 2009 |
Having been to Rome twice before, this was our first time staying in a flat. Nothing can compare than having the experience of true Roman living. Magnifico was everything it was advertised. The greeter was there when we arrived and was helpful with our questions. The view was incredible and the flat very lovely and comfortable. Excellent location for ancient Rome lovers and an easy stroll to restaurants etc. I can easily recommend Magnifico. |
